Wilberforce
While staying at the Aire at Le Tourquet on our way back to England we came across a very cautious driver who warned us about staying the night on the Aire by the Calais harbour. He was so concerned he begged us not to do it. Has anybody had any problems in Calais? (?) (?)

Chunky
If you are talking about the one you can see on the right as you sail in to the ferry port I stopped there a couple of years ago for one night on arrival and for two nights on the way back without any problems there were a number of MH using it from France, Germany,Italy, and Britain, one of the brits was a lone 50"s female :-)
Brian Kirby
Problems, no. But it can be quite noisy from ferries coming and going, locals "hotting" their cars, and thick motorhomers arriving and leaving at all hours of the night, some aided by audible reversing warnings! Apart from that, it is fine!
Mickt
Slightly of subject is it true that you cannot stay on Calais docks over night any more

Mike Parke
We always use the aire at Calais plage, both at the start & end of our hols since we first went over in a M'home in 1997. Never had a problem with anything but I can sleep in steel foundry! Last used it in May of this year when it was almost full. Sorry, Brian, we are one of those who arrive in 'the wee small hours' but I do not have a reversing 'bleeper' fitted!. Regards, Mike & Cherry. Brian G.
We stayed on the aire last year at the end of May. During the night we were awakened by a banging sound which sounded to be from the van next door. It was however a 'Domestic' two vans away with a couple (french) in the van and an irate boyfriend (english) trying to get in. With all the shouting, swearing and banging going on the whole aire was awake. Then the gendarmes came about five cars of them and eventually arrested the offender but by then we found it difficult to get back to sleep. This is the only time we have had problems there, but talking to fellow motorhomers the following morning it seems that theft can be a problem.
