Corbyn declines state banquet

Oh dear.....damned when he does, damned when he doesn't! JC has declined an invitation to a state banquet when Trump rocks up in June saying, “Theresa May should not be rolling out the red carpet for a state visit to honour a president who rips up vital international treaties, backs climate change denial and uses racist and misogynist rhetoric.” Just add bigot and pussy grabber to that.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/apr/26/jeremy-corbyn-refuses-to-attend-state-banquet-for-donald-trump

TM should take Trump on a tour of the poor around a few foodbanks to show him how effective her governments "mean spirited, callous and punitive" measures have been in producing child poverty and increasing austerity.

She sided with a murdering genocidal scumbag crook who embezzeled billions from his own country, murdering thousands of his own people, committed tax fraud on a massive scale and had a human rights record that would make the Saudis look saints.

A truly vile oxygen thief.

Stalin ... Mao ... Pol Pot ... I could go on. *-)

Stalin was a necessity as part of the axis powers in ww2.....and fortunately for us Hitler made the mistake of attempting to wage war on two fronts. Still left his mark though with mass deportations, executions, and famine killing millions of Russians. Pelmet wants to go back to a totalitarianism state.....as long as it's far right wing. He wouldn't last five minutes. (lol)

Nice little double shuffle there bullet. You are so good at dodging the issue you could be groomed to be a Politician. How are you at fiddling expenses? It is an essential part of Politics, so look for a Night Class in money fiddling.

So what "issue" were you trying to make other than the historical fact i've mentioned? No idea what on earth expenses have to do with the op other than taking the entire thread off on some weird tangent altogether. :-S

STATE CONTROL.....ie .......TOTALITARIANISM >:-) .........

If you read again carefully i wrote, right wing totalitarianism. Big difference between that and communism and ideologically the absolute opposite. Before becoming democracies many Latin American countries were right wing totalitarian countries where you'd get slung in prison for listening to pop music etc. In your case you wouldn't be allowed to swan off to Spain for half the year or spend each day arguing on the internet (though there wouldn't be access anyway). It's an extreme conservatism barely a step away from fascism.

For all it's faults communism did have some good benefits and to understand it better, the best way is to visit countries and speak to people who lived under it. Much better than reading biased reports and you'll get more balanced opinions. Example; there were no homeless....everyone had a home or (usually) apartment provided by the state. Same with education and healthcare though books were carefully monitored.

I've met a variety during my travels who lived under communism, both old and young. A lady i met a number of times over a few years who'd grown up in East Germany, had a fascinating life story she told me about one evening. Her mother had been at school with Margot Feist who became Erich Honekers wife, who she described as an absolute bitch and way more dangerous than Erich, yet the west thought Erich was. The same lady, when the wall fell in '89 her husband accessed his Stasi files.....only to find his own sister had worked as a Stasi informant. He's never spoke to her since and totally cut her out of his life.

Another much younger chap told me of life as a teenager in DDR. He was a Rolling Stones fan and as far as he was concerned that's all he wanted. Family holidays were always in Hungary every year but Hungarian teenagers enjoyed a better lifestyle than East Germans and he remembered being singled out by them as "poor".

There's a British guy who tours a lot of Eastern bloc countries (and beyond) and uploads his clips to YT. They are informative and very well made. You probably won't watch but here is one from Minsk, Belarus where he takes a train.

Krakow is very 'touristy' with loads of bars, restaurants, and shops flogging tourist tat in the old town main square. https://tinyurl.com/y49ftl7s

It's ok for a visit but every tourist goes to Krakow and consider they've 'seen Poland'....a bit like Brits who flock to Benidorm every year and think they've 'seen Spain'. Far better off getting out into the country and small towns or villages to experience the real Poland.

I can't see it bothering Trump as at the moment Jeromy and friends seem to have made Labour into a party that's not fit to or likely to govern.

The Tories haven't a clue or a care of what happens south of Westminster, however they did win the election, even if it was by offering the public a way out of the EU they still won, as they didn't deliver on their last election promise I can't see them getting in again.

The liberals let the public down by holding hands with the conservatives so they have no chance, I don't think the greens have a credible plan on running the country either.

The only way for labour is for David Miliband to come back, or maybe, I wonder if Barak Obama wants a job

That bit probably won't but when the Palace told him there's no room at the Inn and he'd have to find an Hotel somewhere, he'd have been crying like a baby....especially as the Obama's were given a suite of rooms there during their state visit. ;-)

Neither have you though for the past 40+ years you thought you had been "in Russia" when you hadn't. As i said you just make assumptions about people and places all the time with scant knowledge about how they lived. Afaik you've not even spoken with any who actually lived under communism and just form opinions based on a very closed right wing imagination.
