EU to ‘retain all control’

Brussels will “retain all the controls” over swathes of British regulation under the Brexit deal struck by Theresa May, EU negotiators have told member states.

So errrm.......i thought you Brexit wallers were "taking back control"? *-)

Comedy gold from a pair of Little Englander fruitloops. Channel 4 news had reporters in Ireland, Peterhead and Doncaster.

Little Englander Doncaster Market man; "Whats France doin' in our water...this is England. Listen, i seen it all, i'm 49 year old and think it should be England again, not Europe."

Interviewer then asks his daughter, "do you agree with that?"

Little Englander Doncaster daughter; "Yeah".

Interviewer; "why?"

Little Englander Doncaster daughter; "Cuz" (giggles and looks vacant)

Little Englander Doncaster Market man; "She's lookin' to the future love".

Little Englander Doncaster daughter; "yeah" (nods and more giggles)

Oh brother..*-) ..and to think dummies like this pair were let loose with a pencil and ballot paper. *-)

BG..

I did catch the interviews of the market traders on the news and yes, they were a little cringe-worthy.

(..I found the interview that followed ,with the remain supporting stall holder, complaining that his grenades are now costing him double to buy from the Netherlands 8-) , as equally cringey).

But both made vaild points though.

That first bloke touched upon an interesting point when he mentioned "French water"..

It's true a great deal of our "utilities" etc have been sold off to foreign companies, some of which will be partially owned by their "state", and for some (like this bloke by the sounds of it) the referendum was a way hitting back at this situation..

Unfortunately leaving the EU isn't going to miraculously turn the clock back and bring everything back into UK ownership (and if you don't "own" something, you are never going to be able to fully "control" it)

I thought the bloke flogging the grenades was hilarious, especially his parting comment. (lol)

Why is there a demand for grenades in South Yorkshire though I wonder. maybe those southern Yorkie rufty tufty types are planning to come up here and blow up our North Yorks remainer villages. 8-)

I didn't fully catch the tail end of his bit , perhaps a bit unfair of me but I think I lost interest because of what he had chosen to sell..

But having just watched his segment on catch up, I see what you mean. ;-)

Irrespective of which ever way anyone voted and/or their reasons for doing so, where we are now can't be anything like what any of them envisaged..

What a *@$*ing shambles! :-S

Did anyone catch PMQ's Just now. At 10:40 Theresa once again stated the possibility of there being "No Brexit" to which the house unanimously cheered! TM then proceeded to smile and I reckon was going Mwhahahahaaaaa! (lol) Once a remainer, always a remainer I say.

She's also said umpteen times no second vote so maybe you could spare us going on and on and on and .....

What was that she said in 2017? Oh yeah. "There will be no snap election". What else has the U turn queen reneged on? Shall we start a list?

May not be her decision anyway. Truth is nobody really knows how this will play out now but here is what we know. The deal is crap, nobody likes it, nearly everyone agrees its much worse than remaining in the EU. Nobody wants to crash out either. The majority of the public now want to remain in the EU. It will be interesting to see how that majority grows now that May's crappy deal has been revealed. Who is going to sell it for her? Nobody thats who. Four resignations last time I looked. DUP now bound to dump the Tories. Not looking great is it?

You and I are not much different in this now. Your clinging on hoping for a crash and burn no deal Brexit which nobody wants and I am clinging on hoping for a Peoples Vote and hoping that we end up remaining. Both go against everything thats been said in Parliament but for either to stand a chance it has to have support of both the public and Parliament and its only going in one direction (at the moment)

And I understand that mr Mogg has sent his letter in. So he’s going to precipitate a change of leader of his party.

So that we can all buy cheaper shoes as I understand it.

Thanks .

I now expect that the deal negotiated will be rejected by parliament,

A people’s vote will be rejected.

Leaving without a deal will also be prevented by Parliament

..........And members of Parliament will do what they are paid for, make some decisions.

The main one being to reverse Article 50, not at all sure how that can be done, but we won’t be leaving on 29th March

So we can all calm down and get on with the important things

Snowie

What I like about the Tory party is how loyal they are and how selflessly they behave at times like this.

Grenade guy gave away his profit margin......100% mark up! He should have contacted my ex-employer for Aden and Rarden cases though. We used to melt millions of those damn things back down for new brass....until the foundry got closed down after spending silly money on a new caster and filtration plant.

I don't think he quite understood the meaning of territorial waters which every country has! As for utilities....we are going to get mega cheap gas once we've caused a few earthquakes and demolished buildings!

Could it ever have been anything else? How many more resignations since this morning btw? The hawks are hovering.....how long before May throws in the towel? Have we still got a Government? :-S

The voices of The People were certainly very vocal when she came out to announce her 'deal' to news crews outside Downing street last night. Couldn't hear any rabid Brexiters though....must have all run off. (lol)

We have a Government in waiting according to Brexit Barry ... Be here before Brexit he says ... How that's going to happen I don't know given the fixed term parliament act ... Maybe quite a lot of Tories'll vote to bring their own parties Government down

I wonder how soon we can expect a decision from the ECJ about whether we can unilaterally withdraw the Article 50 notice resulting from that referral by a Scottish Court.

TM's speech today brought home to me the enormous complexity involved in withdrawing from the EU. It seems like the government's task is akin to an exercise in stripping out most of a person's central nervous system and ensuring as far as possible that they survive unharmed.

He's confused to which 'side' he's on!

"Cheaper food, clothing and footwear...helping the least well off in our society the most" Errrmm......that's socialism Jacob. (lol) Your lot specialise in screwing the less well off in society to 'feed' the rich. Ask Esther McVey.....she's probably signing on at your local Job centre. (lol)

Totally agree and the sooner the better.....and yes it is possible. I reckon this guy is amply qualified and knows what he's talking about.

Immediately. Both May and the ECJ wallers should be on the blower to Lord Kerr right now.

"What I like about the Tory Party is how loyal they are" ... Think you need to look back to just a little while ago with Jeremy's loyal Labour Party ... Hillary Benns sacking might give ya a clue ... Now those numbers when it came to resignations really will take some beating

Antony, the only way that crack could construed racist, is if you think the folk from Doncaster are of a different race!

I'll agree it's a bit discriminatory, in that it lumps all inhabitants of Doncaster into the same group as the guy on the C4 news, but I'm surprised you have hit on that as racism since you do that yourself incessantly - except your target group isn't Doncastrians.

Me? I just thought the guy was a fairly typical market trader, and well suited to his calling. He may or may not be particularly intelligent - intelligence takes many forms - but what he undeniably is was ill informed and not that well educated. However, I assume he could improve on both/either should he wish.

I do think it was unfair of C4 to send out reporters to interview people, and then broadcast the opinions (I assume) of some of the least thoughtful and articulate people they found. There must have been others with better formulated arguments on both sides of the debate. Choosing the least able to represent one side is a bit of a cheap shot.

Glad you thought they presented a good impression of Doncastrians though, even if it does seem a bit hard! :-D
