I dont pay much attention to all this Corbyn "hate" and calling him a Jew hater etc but it appears to me that he is spouting concern for Palestinians being bombed and murdered by the Israelis. How does that make him an Anti semite if the Israelis are going around bombing and murdering Palestinians?

I dont think Corbyn is a racist or an evil bad man. Bit of a knob but there are plenty of those in the HOC.

"Renowned Jewish intellectual Noam Chomsky has taken apart the antisemitism smears against Jeremy Corbyn.

Professor Chomsky is the author of over 100 books on war, politics, linguistics and media. In an email to Media Lens, Chomsky said the smears were part of a “disgraceful” campaign to dispose of Corbyn:

The charges of anti-Semitism against Corbyn are without merit, an underhanded contribution to the disgraceful efforts to fend off the threat that a political party might emerge that is led by an admirable and decent human being, a party that is actually committed to the interests and just demands of its popular constituency and the great majority of the population generally

Labour’s policies do seem to meet the demands of the “great majority of the population”. Polling on some key features of Labour’s industrial strategy illustrates this:

77% of people want public ownership of energy

84% want the NHS in public ownership

76% want the railways in public ownership

83% want water in public ownership

Chomsky has previously endorsed Corbyn for prime minister. Speaking to Media Lens, he went on to say that Corbyn’s leadership is:

authentically concerned with the rights of suffering and oppressed people throughout the world.

Corbyn’s Labour has pledged to place UK foreign policy in line with international law. The party will end all arms sales to regimes if there is concern they are committing war crimes. Labour would also create a new minister for peace.

Chomsky rounded off by saying that Corbyn is:

Plainly an intolerable threat to order.

Even people bringing antisemitism allegations against Corbyn appear to have conceded that their aim is to get rid of him. At the Jewish Labour Movement conference on 2 September, Blairite Labour MP Margaret Hodge spelt out that "The problem is that he [Corbyn] is the problem"

In a similar vein, a pro-Israel campaigner openly spoke about “weaponising” antisemitism to banish Corbyn from “public life” on Sky News.

The smears against Corbyn rely heavily on misrepresentation. For example, mainstream outlets spent days accusing Corbyn of hosting an ‘antisemitic’ event in parliament in 2010, because speakers compared the actions of Israel to the Nazis. But at the meeting, a Jewish Holocaust survivor was addressing a room of predominantly Jewish people.

Broadly speaking, the total cases of antisemitism in Labour represent less than 0.1% of around 540,000 members. With that in mind, widespread smears undermine the genuine instances and genuine concerns about antisemitism in Labour and wider society.

On 16 September for instance, Conservative environment secretary Michael Gove refused to condemn the openly antisemitic and Islamophobic far-right leadership in Hungary. That’s after the Conservatives whipped MEPs to back Viktor Orbán’s dangerous platform in a vote at the European Parliament. This has received far less media coverage than allegations of antisemitism against Corbyn and Labour that just don’t stack up.

Citizens who are sick of the smear campaign against Corbyn will no doubt welcome Chomsky’s intervention. The Jewish intellectual pointed to the broader context: the Labour leader represents an existential threat to the establishment. And it won’t go down without a fight."

Very interesting article though will still go over the heads of those content in shouting "Corbyn is antisemite" without citing indisputable proof and the reason they don't is because they can't. Many people have tired of the incessant smear campaign with even some non-Labour beginning to question the veracity asking "well can we see/hear the claims". For some, simply criticising Israels illegal occupation and violation of international law and Geneva convention, is enough to be accused of being 'antisemite'. Yet many Israeli jews themselves have openly spoke out against it.

Orban presented something of a dilemma for the far right. Condoning Islamophobia came naturally for them, but not the antisemitism.

I have some pics I took of a Mosque while in The Maldives and I have pics of loads of Muslims in The Maldives and pics of a Muslim in a Rangers top I gave him so by that same logic I obviously cant be Islamaphobic ... Corbyn’s 2014 Morning Star article: ‘wreaths were laid’ for people ‘killed by Mossad’ in 1991

In 2014, just days after the event, Corbyn wrote about his trip to Tunisia for the Morning Star. He said that “wreaths were laid at the graves of those who died [in the 1985 Israeli airstrike] and on the graves of others killed by Mossad agents in Paris in 1991.”

That raises the question of who the “others killed by Mossad agents in Paris in 1991” are. Mr Corbyn’s language could suggest that part of the trip to the cemetery commemorated individuals linked to Black September. Here’s why.

Atef Bseiso was head of intelligence for the Palestine Liberation Organisation, and was believed by Israel to have been behind the Black September attack on the Munich Olympics. Bseiso was killed outside a Paris hotel in 1992. The PLO claimed he was assassinated by Israeli secret services, but Israeli authorities said it was the work of a rival Palestinian faction.

Another senior PLO figure, Salah Khalaf, was killed in Tunis in 1991. The United States and Israel accused Khalaf of having founded the Black September group, which he denied. Both men are buried alongside two others who were killed in Tunis in 1991 in the cemetery that Mr Corbyn was visiting.

Many commentators have suggested that Mr Corbyn was referring to these individuals when he wrote about a wreath being laid on the graves of “others killed by Mossad agents in Paris in 1991.” The pictures from 2014 of Mr Corbyn holding a wreath in the cemetery show him stood a few feet from those graves.

It’s worth noting that Mr Corbyn’s exact words in the Morning Star article – “wreaths were laid” – don’t specify who actually laid the wreaths. There is at least one photo of Mr Corbyn holding a wreath, which according to the Daily Mail story, shows Mr Corbyn stood very near to the graves of those linked to Black September.

*-) ...........

Has he accidentally ever been seen holding a wreath at the grave of a soldier killed by the IRA?.......Or a Jew killed by Hamas?........NO! :-| .........

You carry on defending your Israel/Jew Hater Hero Bullet........It says so much about you and your ilk >:-) ......

Corbyn’s 2014 Morning Star article: ‘wreaths were laid’........

This old chestnut has been trotted out that many times, since debunked, it's become as insane as the incessant screams of antisemitism which many not even connected to the LP have tired of and begun to question. Corbyn has issued both written and verbal statements on standing against all racism which naturally includes antisemitism, but that's still not enough for those so afraid of him, they want his head on a stake.

The LP has now put the matter of antisemitism to the EHRC for an external fully independent investigation so it's to be hoped those making the allegations come up with something a lot better than, "well there's a photo of JC by the grave of a Jew killed by Hamas".

As explained, i stood by the grave of a Jew killed by the Nazis......does that make me antisemite? By your insane view it does. I've also stood by the grave of Sophie and Hans Scholl, (google it....it will do you good to learn some factual history for a change instead of filling your head with xenophobic bile and clap trap).

As the LP has taken these steps to tackling the allegations of antismetism........will the Tory party also be asking the EHRC to investigate it's institutionalize Ismamophobia? Because so far Baroness Warsi seems pretty much to be a voice in the wilderness campaigning alone. Please tell me your party does indeed plan to engage an external and independent investigation.

That's why Corbyn has asked for the EHRC to investigate and hopefully when completed we will see lawsuits being filed against those found to have made false and wrongful allegations.

Playing at semantics won't cut it. Corbyn is leader of LP and the NEC its governing body both of whom will be involved with the EHRC investigation.

I saw a short report of the 'Big Meeting' (never was called a Gala by the Pitmen). Some of the interviewees were pathetic. Spouting Labour claptrap and LTBG references (WTF?). I used to go when there was a Labour Party and listen to the speakers. There were over 100 Banners from the Lodges marching into Durham, each with a Brass Band (occasionally a Pipe Band). Unfortunately too many Banners were draped in black Crepe to signify a death in the preceding 12 months.

Everyone gathered to meet on the Racecourse to renew friendships. I am not using rose tinted spectacles when I say that there was true friendship and comradeship back then ... nothing like the me, me, me stinking selfishness of today. Luckily the North East still retains some good people with good old fashioned values.

I know you're milking this for all you can but frankly Pelmet you're making yourself look increasingly stupid with every post you make as really the sole reason is not your concern about racism as that's been shown by your incessant Islamophobia, but more about the need to sing from the same hymn sheet as your far right chum vilifying just about everyone and anything LP associated.

JC has already made a formal written statement on antisemitism and racism as well as the ongoing EHRC inquiry, but with people like you that's still not enough.....you want his head on a stake, continue finger pointing, and jump up and down screaming 'antisemite' when anyone stands by the grave of a Jew. Can you not see how ridiculous that is?

Muslim council of Great Britain who boycotted World Holocaust Day ??? ... Yup ... The haters want supposed hate investigated

Which ended 12 years ago. *-)

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2007/dec/03/secondworldwar.religion

If the area of land you live had been under illegal occupation for the past half century in direct breach of UN law and the Geneva convention, by an opposing force, i think you too would not be quite so keen to celebrate your jailers day.

However here is some informed history for you to dwell on about Muslims (people you disparagingly call "the haters") who saved Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany during the war. Albania was under Italian occupation so they put their lives at risk from both Fascists and Nazis.

Albania, the only European country with a Muslim majority, succeeded in the place where other European nations failed. Almost all Jews living within Albanian borders during the German occupation, those of Albanian origin and refugees alike, were saved, except members of a single family. Impressively, there were more Jews in Albania at the end of the war than beforehand.

And here is an article from just two years ago regarding 40 Swedish Jews who intended to boycott a Holocaust commemoration event in Gothenburg due to the involvement of a nationalist party in organising it. Yes that's right, Jews boycotting a Holocaust day......but read on to find why;

“That the Sweden Democrats, with their ties to both old and new Nazism and xenophobia, are invited to co-organise the memorial ceremony is more than an affront. It is extremely offensive to us as Jews and our history,”

The Sweden Democrats, which describes itself as critical of immigration from Muslim countries and its effects of Swedish society, are the “only party with a clear xenophobic agenda where people are pitted against each other solely on the basis of their background and where Sweden’s survival as a country is contrasted with an alleged wave of mass immigration,” the co-signatories wrote. “There is only one party that makes history’s bells ring so loud.”

So who were "the haters" in this particular example.....the 40 Swedish Jews for planning to boycott a Holocaust Day, or the xenophobic right wing populist party Sweden Democrats?
