We are only 4 weeks from the promised armageddon and the pound is gaining in value against the US Dollar and the Euro. We are told that our exit will be a disaster but somebody obviously doesn't realise.

Just imagine how much it would gain if we did the sensible thing and pulled article 50......but talking of disasters, that would be a catastrophe for disaster capitalists like Rees-Mogg et al who would lose a fortune.

Not really. If there is a second referendum and the only options are Mays deal (or whatever deal) and remain with no deal off the table and not on the ballot I think it will be a walk in the park unless someone pulls something nobody else has thought about out of the hat in the next few weeks.

You never did quite get the gist of that referendum thing did you? Mind you, now knowing your reason for voting Brexit, it's easy to see why. *-)

Yes because the referendum question wil be determined by Parliament, they have already demonstrated they will not accept no deal. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/feb/26/economy-could-shrink-by-9-percent-under-no-deal-brexit-government-says

You've told us you voted Brexit so you can "think you're a Brit". Given the amount of time you're out of UK and your indecisiveness over which country you legally hold habitual residency, i can understand your confused state of mind. How do you think Brexit is going to benefit you other than creating more chaos, getting rid of businesses and chucking thousands out of work?

Here is a report on Brexit from the Institute for Government, that reviews recent forecasts of the economic result of Brexit from the Centre for Economic Performance, the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis, Economists for Free Trade, HM Government, the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, Open Europe, Oxford Economics, and others. http://tinyurl.com/yyvgrkq8 Enjoy! :-)

All, despite their differing assumptions about the form of Brexit, and the possible measures that may be taken to protect the economy, see only damage to the UK economy for the period to 2035.

What you are presently seeing is the result of events in the recent past, whereas what one needs to know is the probable economic impact of Brexit.

As is so often said, past performance is no guide to the future, and it is the future we weed to foresee. It is rather like having fallen into a river and clinging in hope to a fallen log that has come your way - when there is a huge waterfall just around the next bend! We need to let go of the log - and get out of the river! :-D

I watch the currency rates a lot and as has already been mentioned every time no deal looks less likely it goes up in our favour and every time it comes back as being more probable it goes down again.

Predictions are currently looking at an initial 20% drop against the Euro (not sure about the dollar) in a crash out Brexit. Thats similar to what happened in 2016.

I watch Sky News for the UK news each lunchtime, and I can reassure you that the exchange rates have risen in favour of the pound each day this week, that is until today, the day after Mrs May made her announcement about the vote to delay etc. Today against the Euro it was hovering around the rate achieved yesterday, and against the Dollar it was once again up a little. The Euro has lost about 3 cents against the Pound this week, before the announcement, and the Dollar about 4 cents over the same period, so nothing to do with Mrs May's statement.

That is the most sensible and obvious thing you have said in this whole saga Brian!

We are in uncharted territory as no country of any size has ever left the EU so there is nothing to compare with.

Gien the economic 'experts' inability to accurately predict the future over many years when the economy of the world was relatively predictable and more stable than it is now it comes as no great surprise that they know not what they are doing but lack the integrity to say so.

There are too many outside and unknown forces that will come into play for anyone to 'know' what will happen and if our own chancellor of the exchequer can only make estimates of his own control of tax and spending revenue of just his own country and still get it wrong every year what chance for something completely different.

So I'll say it again for good measure - past performance is not a guide to the future.

If you think thats leaving the EU then your mad. Well it is leaving but being totally at the mercy of the EU with no vote at the table. Impossible to get out of as well without the EU's permission. So much for taking back control. Will you be coming home to go on Nigels march then for a "proper" Brexit?
