Is it a man thing?

Back from sunny Scotland and I would like to share a small tip with you.

Yet again in MMM there is a gizmo to help you remember to unhook the electric cable before driving off.

What's wrong with simply walking round the 'van before driving off.

That way you can check for tyres that have gone flat in the night, windows left open, dog bowls in front of a wheel etc etc.

Pilots do it everytime they prepare to board their aircraft, even the Jumbo jets! (perhaps not looking for dog bowls...)

Is it me or do men just like to invent gizmos? *-)

Welcome back Janine, we've missed you.

Sorry to be out of step about gadgets etc, but it's Liz who wants a SatNav in our next van - I'm very satisfied with her navigational skills (she doesn't drive), but she's fed up with reading maps instead of enjoying the scenery. I can see her point!

Tony

PS As for leaving things behind, that would definitely be me. With our first van (aircooled VW, years ago) we used a freestanding step by the sliding door - left 3 behind in 2 years!

Never tried to drive off while plugged in though.

One of our vans had corner steadies, so I got into the habit of hanging the "winder" on the steering wheel as a reminder when they were down.

Thank you Tony, I missed you all too.

Doesn't it prove the point though - if you had walked round the 'van before getting into the driving seat, you wouldn't have missed anything!

I can agree about the SatNav tho - it certainly makes life a lot easier if in foreign parts, especially telling you what lane you need to be in half a mile ahead!

We had a woman who ran the country for many years, Maggie Thatcher!!! we had many strikes, the falklands war, she sold off lots of council houses and stopped councils using the money to build new ones...... she didnt do a great job either.

Maybe we just need someone who has some common sense when it comes to cause and effect??????

Please don't bring Margaret Thatcher into this.

STRIKES - Yes, we did have strikes, the miners strike in particular, but what was she supposed to do, allow Arthur Scargill to run the country? What about the strikes in the "Red Robbo" Labour years in the 70's and 80s?

FALKLANDS WAR - Again, what was she expected to do, allow Argentina to run roughshod over UK sovereignty?

COUNCIL HOUSE SALES - Just ask the millions of people who took advantage of the "right to buy" their own home instead of paying rent for the rest of their lives, if they appreciate the policy that she introduced.

SHE DIDN'T DO A GOOD JOB - Obviously that's for debate. What I would ask you to do is to just compare her years with the past 10 years of President Blair and draw your own conclusion.

Please accept the above in the spirit of which it's given, I don't want to start a war.

Take Care.

Margaret Thatcher was the toughest and finest prime minister that this country has had since Winston Churchill. Tina is probably too young to remember the 'Winter of Discontent' when the unions brought Britain to a standstill, when rubbish piled up in the streets and the dead went unburied.

Her stance against the unions and particularly Arthur Scargill, set the foundations for the wealth that we all enjoy today, despite ten years of Socialism and hundreds of stealth taxes from Slimy (I've reduced the rate of income tax) Brown.

And as for selling council houses! I'm a working class lad who was brought up in one and my hard working parents bought theirs and set up for themselves a happier and richer rent-free retirement.
