This is Patricia Arce, the elected mayor of Vinto after she was dragged from her home barefoot by a gang of masked far-right thugs, covered in red paint, having her hair forcibly cut off in front of a screaming mob. She was humiliated like this for hours by the far-right mob until she eventually resigned as mayor. Elsewhere in Bolivia the police have actually joined in these violent riots. and lootings, and mob attacks, rather than seeking to prevent them. The head of the Bolivia armed forces has demanded that Evo Morales resign at the point of a gun, and the leader of the right-wing opposition who whipped up these mobs in the first place is demanding that Morales and his allies be banned from standing in future elections in order to give himself a free run at the Presidency. Evo Morales resigned yesterday to prevent more bloodshed and mob attacks like this on his friends and allies, despite the fact he won the recent presidential election by a wide margin. This is far-right mob rule, and to see UK government ministers like Dominic Raab actually gloating and celebrating on Twitter that this kind of disgusting mob violence has won the day over democracy is absolutely sickening. To think that Raab and his ilk look at images like this and their hearts flutter with joy at the misogynistic humiliation of a socialist, rather than recoiling in absolute disgust at what his right-wing brethren are doing to an elected official. If the UK mainstream media actually broadcast distressing footage like this, rather than presenting such heavily sanitised versions of events, then maybe Raab and his Tory mates would be a little more circumspect about celebrating this kind of violent, lawless, US-backed far-right coup?
