Back in the real world the pound crashed on the Brexit vote.

We will have to borrow even more to pay the pensioner's pay rise.

And they will be no better off because it doesn't even cover the real rate of inflation.

Oh year that pound that's crashed to levels with the Euro not seen since 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 :D ...........

As for borrowing perhaps Corbyn could tell us where he's planted those money trees? >:-) ......

BTW 3% is nearly another £5 per week, or 2 bottles of decent wine, or 3 bottles of half decent wine or 5 litres of indecent wine in Spain B-) .........

Always look on the bright side of life.

A 3% payrise is better than many employees get, so thank you very much, every little helps.

I should write to Mr Corbyn and ask him how many money trees I get if I joined the labour party and more importantly how much I would have to pay him to harvest them for him and his hangers on!

Interesting comments from my 'currency business' subscription email today:

'Yesterday’s report that UK inflation had risen to 3 percent in September further cemented expectations that the Bank of England will raise interest rates on November 2nd. However, the news only provided a brief and modest lift to sterling before it slipped back following mixed comments from bank of England policy makers'.

So the news gives GBP a boost then the BoE mouthpiece opens and GBP slides back.  It begs the question what is the BoE doing.....supporting GBP or playing politics with it?

Mark Carney is one of the Remoaners in chief, so we cant expect anything other than doom and gloom *-) .......

He and his fellow whingers are doing their best to bury good news, how annoyed must they be that we have the lowest unemployment since 1975? >:-) .......

The money trees must be in Buckingham Palace.

I suspect they are including children with paper rounds in their employment figures these days.

( ..and it must help encouraging all the youngsters to stay in education for as long as possible )

Pity you didn't stop taking other 'facts' as gospel then.  You really are the most boring individual when it comes to harping on and on and on and on about the same old irrelevances.

Its a shame you can't have a civilised discussion without making up things people have said, and deriding them for it.As shown earlier today, you even change what people have said to suit your prejudices when we can see what they actually said here in print. So how can we believe anything you say?

I take it the bold above is a question?  You know that '?' thing that indicates a question does help if one is to be critical of ones use of the English language.

So to answer your rather pointless question:
I would estimate that tens of millions of people have used it since it is recorded as being used back in the 1600's.  Therefore to answer 'what sort of person' is rather a difficult question to answer.  One can only guess that it has been used over the centuries by those as diverse as beggars, clergy, learned professors, politicians, Royalty etc and all strata of the populace in between.  It is an idiom, a derivative of 'as true as the Gospels' which has morphed into a more acceptable 'truth of a general nature' since the 1800's.

Now for someone who clearly has demonstrated a bent for history I am surprised you needed to ask.

Difficult for you to answer.

But others can see that 'Gospel truth' is an expression used by the Establishment, or those brainwashed by the Establishment - into thinking the Estanblishment's 'Gospel' can't be wrong. :-(

You are even misquoting yourself now

I did not answer it because it wasn't a question.

If it was a question why did you not put a question mark after it?
