Fast Pat
Except Cummings is wrong about the constitution, if there is a vote of no confidence in September and an election is not fixed till after 31st October, the purdah convention would require Johnson to seek an extension until after Election Day. Guest pelmetman
Fast Pat - 2019-08-04 9:48 AM Except Cummings is wrong about the constitution, if there is a vote of no confidence in September and an election is not fixed till after 31st October, the purdah convention would require Johnson to seek an extension until after Election Day. Wishful thinking ;-) ..........The UK leaving the EU on the 31st of October is written into British Law B-) ......... "Purdah is the pre-election period in the United Kingdom, specifically the time between the announcement of an election and the final election results. It affects civil servants (but not candidates),[1] preventing central and local government from making announcements about any new or controversial government initiatives (such as modernisation initiatives or administrative and legislative changes) which could be seen to be advantageous to any candidates or parties in the forthcoming election. Where a court determines that actual advantage has been given to a candidate, this may amount to a breach of Section 2 of the Local Government Act 1986. At its weakest, the time period brings a moral commitment for executive officers not, unless ordered by elected representatives, to enter into any transactions or carry out any works which would conflict with the stated intentional commitments (manifesto) of the cabinet or shadow cabinet and possibly other candidates. So no purdah conflict as the decisions already been made >:-) ..........

Barryd999
Boris takes bulls**t and lying to a completely new level though, you all must be able to see that. I think you can see that but just wont admit it. We remainers did not lie about "no deal being dead" either, some of us genuinely thought it was when Parliament ruled it out. Lesson learned I guess. To say however all politicians lie and more whataboutery regarding Corbyn is equally as pointless as saying "no deal is dead". None of them are on the same scale as Boris. Whichever way you look at it because of Brexit we now have a lying, dishonest self centred moron running the country. I would like to say it couldnt get worse but that would once again be tempting fate. Was Brexit really worth turning the country into a mini America with a fruit loop steering the ship and the entire country divided which IMO will only get worse?
