Except the UK is just making pledges - it is actually agreeing to donate "surplus" vaccine at some time in the future. Something that most countries are agreeing to, including EU ones.

Except the pledges made by the EU and other countries in December has allowed COVAX to start the rollout to health professionals in less developed countries NOW. Not wait until the end of the year, typically blighty doing things too late.

You have got Google, there are plenty of news stories of GAVI and COVAX vaccination programs for health care professionals already underway.

I'm bored with you now, especially starting the same story on two threads at the same time. Do your own research rather than post misleading headlines and waiting for others to constantly school you. I'm off for a swim, much more productive than arguing with idiots like yourself.

I stand corrected, the expected rollout is now. I just saw a news item on the TV and thought it was already ongoing, the TV must have been a small scale effort in the Seychelles.

So we have established it is February, how is it in your mind that the UK pledge of "by end of the year, if we have a surplus" better than something planned to start this month?

And don't get me wrong I think contributions from every country is great, its is just the flag shagging that goes with the UK contribution makes us look less than great. Especially as the latest from the UK government is that we might engage in a little "vaccine diplomacy" and only help where we can see benefits to the UK - a bit like the reduced foreign aid budget - you know the one that the Tory Party manifesto said they would leave unchanged?

Is the UK supplying the world with its "spare" vaccine now, "when the poorer countries need actual vaccine"?

Or does it hope to "by the end of the year"?

Yes but should England be sending aid abroad whilst its receiving food parcels from Unicef?

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/dec/16/unicef-feed-hungry-children-uk-first-time-history

I could understand reducing foreign aid if it were being given to the poor at home

Instead of being spaffed away to BoJo's cronies for overpriced and useless stuff >:-)

How mean a group of 27 countries donate only 500 million euros when the UK (4 countries ) donate £548 million

Except some of those 27 countries also donated in their own individual right as sovereign countries can.

And Pelmethead, speaking of Blighty saving the world, I'm sure you will be using your membership of the Tory party to petition your local party to stick to the manifesto commitment on foreign aid and not half it. If the aid is cut it will mean that ongoing programmes will be halted leading to hundreds of thousands of premature deaths will occur.

It's very embarrassing when the rest of the G7 are increasing their contributions, but I suppose that their management of the pandemic and healthier economies allow them to more generous than Brexit Blighty.

(Neither are their Governments spaffing away £billions to their chums in secretive contracts)

For one because it allows animal cruelty sports , like the killing of thousands of song birds or the glue traps the French use. There is no outright ban.

Last I heard the EU did have a ban on the sort of razor wire surrounding Buckingham palace?

I'm still seeing birds with one foot
