Pancakes

Pancake day is coming soon, so I am told !

I have to knock up enough for a dozen people invited to participate in a little soiree here in the garden.

I will be using my gas BBQ for the cooking.

The question is,

1. How many eggs will I need for a dozen pancakes

&

2. What sort of frying pan can I use on the BBQ grilling irons.

&

3. Which wine would be best, to go with hot pancakes?

1. Depends on whether you use wrens eggs or ostrich eggs.

2. Depends on how big the eggs are, but I would use a metal one.

3. Depends on what Lidl's are offering cheapest

Peter,

Only one pancake each, in that case 1 egg will do for 12 pancakes.

It wouldnt do in our house that would ust about be enough for my Son alone.

Savoury or sweet then decide on the wine. Why not splash them with Calvados ooh my mouths watering already.

Definatley a well used pancake pan for the cooking, just smeared with oil

Bon appetite

David

The first pancake is always a dud so you can forget that, and you'll probably end up with one looking like a lump of soggy mush so that's the other one, if you're really lucky you might end up with a spare so that's the bakers dozen and belongs to the cook! (lol)

Twooks, Looked at Delia's recipe, and she uses only 2 eggs to serv 12 to 14 pancakes.

I only want 12, so what can I do with the other 2 ?

I'll have them.

I use delia's recipe for just the two of us, don't get 12 as I make then a bit thicker :->

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed to get two dozen pancakes out of my mix.

Must have been due to the 6 inch camping fry pan I used :$

But then found my lemons were off >:-(

Must have been fermenting after picking them in Spain during January trip.

Tomato juice not quite the same. *-)
