We are off to Amsterdam - mini cruise - via Hull/Rotterdam on Friday evening - I have never been before. Can anyone suggest places not to be missed! Only got a day there - have to be back on board Saturday evening. We like museums and ww2 places, and gardens. Any suggestions appreciated Carol and Charles

If you click "amsterdam" on the web Carol, you will find a fairly comprehensive guide to the city and its attractions. I can recommend the Cobra Museum (art) and Zeedijk Street for your shopping and if time allows do try and take a guided tour on one of the boats which is not be missed. Howard.

Carol Food - feed yourself before you get on the boat as the meals are a bit on the pricey side. Pay for the breakfast and stuff yourself silly first and then make yourself a sandwich or two to take with you for lunch - there'll be plenty of bread rolls, cooked meat etc.

We have been several times over the years, and generally just enjoy wandering around the canals, visiting the brown bars and any markets that are on. There are generally lengthy queues at the museums and have tried to get to them very early when we have visited them. Hope you have fun tho'. and treat yourselves to some poffertjes {see here for info http://tinyurl.com/yjevye} shame you won't be staying over you miss the chance of Indonesian rijsttafel http://tinyurl.com/wdsqd B-)
