robertandjean
A quick up date on Aires in and around Biarritz. We are on aire atMilady, where entry barrier now repaired and does take uk credit cards no matter what is reported on some other forums Have been here 5 days, moving to Hendaye tomorrow, and almost every day is full by end of afternoon so arrive early. Cost is 12 euro night inc electric hook up, if any spare. Free bus to town outside aire. There is a new aire at Gabriel Dorizat, about 1 km further up road from Milady so not as close in, but not just as busy. This aire is on grass with more rural aspect. Same price and also with electric but prefer Milady. Both Aires in Anglet are closed at this time. Large fun faire on aire at la barre and trucks etc from faire on aire at corsaires. Look like will not move any tlme soon. Hope info helps any one heading this way.
robertandjean
Now on aire at Hendaye Plage but only just! Payed by card for 3 nights, no problem but code obtained would not open barrier no matter which buttons we pressed. As lunch time no hope of contacting anyone, so parked up on side road. After lunch walked to town, informed tourist office who contacted local police to sort out, so should be able to enter on our return, as response from police was pas de problem. Bus still runs from outside aire to centre but now costs 1euro. Weather here today gorgeous blue sky and warm but forecast to get colder over weekend but nothing like return of beast from east about to return to uk. Is that the Aire at the railway station or is there another one please?
robertandjean
Yes it is aire opposite rail station. Police did fix barrier so now no problem entering aire and almost full last night For those who have not been here no trains overnight so no problem sleeping, but convenient for catching train to main Hendaye station and connection on to San Sebastian which have done in past and about to repeat today and enjoy excellent tapas. Thank you, last time we used that it was mayhem, no barrier then, and a boy on a moped bashed into our van,it was difficult to get a level spot too, maybe things have changed there now it is a pay Aire, will give it a try when we are that way again. robertandjean
We stayed when it was free aire right on road side but never had any problems. Now set back from road with marked spaces but only some are level whilst others are on slopes. As with all popular Aires arrive in good time and you will be able to pick your spot. Barryd999
I think I found the new Aire on CC Infos. This is a screenshot but it may not be up to date. https://s26.postimg.org/uew6vqka1/screenshot_653.jpg Looks much better than the Biarittz Aire to me. I never liked that Aire, too noisy and too busy. Will give that new one a go though. Looks like there is more space and trees separating vans which is always a good thing. Is the Aire at Anglet just temporarily shut as that one was ok if you could get a middle slot. I prefer them being a bit further out to be honest as they are usually quieter and it makes no odds to us as we have a scooter.
robertandjean
There is more space between vans on new Biarritz aire, but not all spaces split up by trees but all on grass. Suspect will be very busy in season when Milady full. Sure both Anglet. Aires will reopen but will be after fete has gone sometime after Easter.
