CBE PC320-CA B1 & B2 Settings

Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, Roger.

The CBE PC320-CA User’s Manual can be found here

http://www.doc-cc.fr/Notice-Panneau-controle-PC320-CA.pdf

with the “CA” suffix indicating that the system will have been supplied to Carthago for installation in that company’s motorhomes.

I’m not hands-on familiar with the PC320, but my understanding of the “User’s Setting” section of the Manual (Pages 27 to 29) is that the owner of the motorhome, by taking voltage measurements via a digital multimeter at the terminals of the vehicle’s starter-battery (B1) and leisure-battery (B2), is able to reflect those measured values accurately on the CBE control-panel’s display.

It’s not a matter of inputting a specific voltage (say 12.8 Volts) - though you could do that if you wanted to experiment - but of inputting each battery’s measured voltage at the time the voltage datum is entered. After that’s been done, whenever you carry out a battery check via the control-panel, you’ll be able to establish from the panel’s readout the charge-state of each battery.

A brief follow-up...

The CBE PC320-CA manual includes a reference to an “AMPMETER” function (Page 25) that measures the leisure-battery’s current and is initially calibrated to zero via the USER’S SETTING mode.

However, there are on-line comments saying that the PC320 system fitted to some Carthago models (presumably the less expensive ones) did not have this capability as standard. (There have been similar reports of Rapido motorhomes with the PC320 lacking the Ampmeter function.)

Anyway, if you can’t get the Ampmeter function to cooperate, don’t be too surprised!!

Hi Derek

Just been able to get back to you after all this time (up a mountain in southern Spain with no wifi or batteries for the volt meter)

Yes you are correct the motor home is a Carthago and I don't think it has the amp readout.

The nearest I think, is a prompt 'AMPER' with responses of 'OFF' 'ANLG' and 'BUS'

The response is set to 'OFF'

Could advise if this the correct setting and also what does the other settings mean???

Thanks

Roger

“ANLG” means “Analogue” and “BUS” means “BUS” (possibly referring to a CAN-BUS system?) - best I can do really...

Serves you right for buying a complicated posh German motorhome with complex Italian electrics ;-)

This earlier forum discussion relates to the Amps readout potentially available with a CBE 320 system

http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/CBE-320-panel-not-showing-amps-used/41366/

For a leisure-battery Amps readout to be provided, the situation seems to be a) a ’shunt’ must be fitted, b) even if a shunt is fitted the CBE system may still not have the Amps readout capability, or c) the shunt is there and the CBE system theoretically has the Amps capability and should provide the associated readout but just doesn’t.

It’s the sort of technical conundrum that should be dumped on to a Carhago dealership.

First thing to look for is a ‘shunt’.

I don’t know what that might look like on a Carthago, but there are some images here that might help

Me, I’d contact the Carthago dealership rather than spend time trying to decide whether the Amp-checking capability is present or not on your particular motorhome.
