keninpalamos
For a few years I have put up with a manky badly cracked bathroom sink emanating around the plughole like a sort of starburst. I believe it’s quite common on older plastic motorhome sinks. I found a company called GRP leisure who will make a copy in Glass reinforced plastic if you send them your old one as a pattern. But sent them a photo first as they may already have the correct mould like they did with mine. Derek is the guy to talk to.
teflon2
You may find that the cracks can be due to mouthwash that is if you use it, I seem to recollect this problem on here in the dim and distant past.
Derek Uzzell
The ‘mouthwash damage’ thing has come up a few times on this forum. This 2008 thread may be the earliest https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/autocruise-wentworh-wash-room/12684/
keninpalamos
Yes I can remember that theory on mouth wash and I will admit to using it for a short time. The original sinks are made of plastic so I'm not sure about the effects of mouthwash on the fibreglass gel goat of the new sink.
Derek Uzzell
This 2012 CaravanTalk thread also discussed the potential damage to thin plastic washbasins that mouthwash might cause. https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/topic/62223-mouth-wash-can-cause-plastic-sinks-to-crack/ The chances are minimal that mouthwash could cause damage to a GRP washbasin, but rinsing the basin thoroughly after 'mouthwashing' should reduce those chances to nil.
