We avoided the Istrian peninsular and drove down the coast to Dubrovnik and back to Zagreb. Stayed on a couple of islands along the way. Smashing trip. Intransit Posted May 29, 2017 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Fantastic place, go for it. We drove down the mainland and island hopped our way back up. Ferrys so easy, just turn up, pay and get on. Just don't go in high season it is mega hot and busy. We went all of September and October, great wether, but be aware sites do start to close in October. Down the (many) steps from the site to Mlini and take the water taxi in to the old town, and, if you're unlucky, it'll stop at a small naturist island ..... I still feel squeemish at the sight of that backside climbing up the steps out of the water .... http://campingkate.incroatia.info/en/index.html ..... and this site is a good family one close to a train station for a day visit to Zagreb. Also handy overnight stop http://www.campslapic.hr/en/ .... and this is an absolute MUST SEE, though the sites nearby tend to be expensive with poor service. alan k Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 We went in 2010. Our first long trip and we spent about 5 weeks in the country. It was great, all the way down to Dubrovnik and back. The coast road is slow but ever so beautiful. There are no real beaches most places you swim from rocks, or concrete or gravel but very clear water. The place not to miss is Loviste, an unbelievable bay and campsite, miles awy on a dead end peninsular but worth it for the views and the fish restaurant cheers alan PS if you can find the story in MMM from 2009 or maybe a bit earlier by the Stotherts Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
