Neal
Hi there we have an Eberspacher heater in our Chaussan motorhome, which when running has a constant ticking noise. When the fans are on and pumping heat around, it gets faster. I thought the sound would only happen when it was firing up, but surely not all the time? Thanks, Neal. Dr Dave
The ticking noise is the dosing pump that injects the diesel into the combustion chamber of the heater, hence the more heat that it delivers the faster the 'tick' you will grow used to it the more you use it. Derek Uzzell
As Dr Dave advises, noise from the fuel-pump is a characteristic of this type of heating system. It’s mentioned in this 2014 MHFun discussion http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/eberspacher-diesel-heater-pump-ticking-on-chausson-flash-10.91665/ and on boating forums. You might be able to reduce the intrusiveness of the noise by altering how the pump is mounted and/or by using sound-deadening material around the pump. It’s not just Eberspacher systems - this 2009 O&AL forum discussion relates to Webasto equivalents http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Clicking-diesel-heating-pump/17034/
