nyk
Does anyone have experience of fitting PU foam engine acoustic insulation ( as sold by VanComfort) to a Euro 5 Ducato? How significant was the noise reduction?
Derek Uzzell
I’ve no hands-on experience of the Van Comfort-sold insulation http://www.vancomfort.co.uk/acoustic.html but I used to add under-bonnet insulation to my cars in the 1980s and the only one of these where a noise reduction was genuinely apparent was a VW Polo Formul-E whare the underside of the bonnet was very close to the top of the motor. My 2015 Ducato already has a factory-fitted insulation pad on the bonnet’s underside, as does my Skoda car, and I’m surprised that Euro 5 Ducatos (apparently) don’t have one. If your Ducato lacks an underbonnet pad you might get some benefit, but don’t expect miracles. You’d need to be careful about installation (I’ve read the Van Comfort fitting instructions) to ensure that there’s no chance of the insulation falling on to the motor.
