Looking at doing this next year but the issue I have is where do you leave the MH for 4 days or so as I 've decided not to try it in the van? Sites don't allow you to leave MH unattended?

I have used the Caravan Club (as it was then) Site storage area for short periods of a week or so for my MH so that I could travel in my car. That was at Chapel Lane. Perhaps there will be a convenient site in Scotland.

Don't forget you might need to inform your insurance company if you're leaving it somewhere other than the registered address. A couple of years ago we took our 24ft van around the 500 and no real problems.

Sorry I can't help with where to leave your MH but I question your 4 days to do it. Yes its only 500 miles but lots of single track roads and you can easily do it in that timescale.

 

Do you want to race round it and tick it off as "Done", or would you prefer to stop, look around, have a wander, a coffee or relaxing lunch, deviate off the main route which is worthwhile. Experience the exhilarating Bealach na Ba (pass of the cattle) to Applecross? Take photos and videos?

 

Its stunning scenery but too many treat it as a tick box experience instead of taking their time and seeing/experiencing things.

 

I don't live on the NC500 but I've travelled it many times on business and pleasure long before a business decided to market it and stick brown signs up.
