Keithl
Where was the battery you replaced located? ie under bonnet, under seat, under floor, etc. Keith.

gerryb60
The computer above entry door shows leisure battery - good at 13 v but when scrolling down it says no engine battery
colin
If this is a Fiat/Pug/Citreon you have replaced the wrong battery. p.s. For future reference it is common for the vehicle battery to go 'flat' after just a few weeks, you need to consider some way of keeping the battery charged if left for weeks at a time. p.p.s. the vehicle battery is under the floor just in front of seats. gerryb60
Wow really It’s a fiat Ducato Is it under a hatch then.? So the one under the seat is the leisure battery.?
Keithl
As Colin says, wrong battery :-( Watch this video from 3 minutes on... (But use a proper spanner, not water pump pliers please!). Keith. Edit: You posted while I was typing! Yes you changed the leisure battery!

Ninian
Hi, As it now appears you've replaced your leisure instead of your engine battery. You should be aware that the two aren't interchangeable, they are totally different in their operation.
John Allen
Not sure this true as I have been Motorhoming in a Fiat Ducato X290 Auto-Trail 700 for 5 years and the last 3 have been with Varta LFD 90 in both locations and both still performing great. Cheers John

John Looking at Alpha batterys site some Varta LFD 90's are dual purpose some aren't. So may be better for op to get a Engine battery because the one he bought is very likely only for leisure use
Derek Uzzell
The LFD90 battery is part of Varta’s “Profesional Dual Purpose” range and is described here https://www.varta-automotive.com/en-gb/products/varta-professional-dual-purpose/930-090-080 The LFD90’s ‘019’ dimensions (Length: 353 mm, Width: 175mm, Height: 190 mm) allow it to be installed in the starter-battery compartment in the cab floor of a Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer/Citroen Relay X250/X290 vehicle (built from mid-2006 onwards). The late-Allen Evans (website here) http://www.aandncaravanservices.co.uk/ used to suggest that the LFD90’s low self-discharge rate made it particularly suitable for use as a motorhome starter-battery if (as is commonplace) the vehicle is to stand idle for long periods. Also that - as the LFD90 has an engine-starting capability - having it as a leisure-battery would permit the leisure-battery to be brought into play in an emergency if a motorhome’s starter-battery failed or became heavily discharged. There are ‘genuine’ starter-batteries (Varta examples here) https://www.varta-automotive.com/en-gb/products that it would be illogical to choose as a leisure-battery. There are also ‘genuine’ deep discharge batteries (eg. Banner’s “Energy Bull” range) https://www.bannerbatterien.com/en-gb/Products/Starter-Batteries/Energy-Bull/226-957-51 that should NOT be used for engine starting. There’s a lot of information about replacing a Ducato’s starter-battery in this recent forum thread https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Vehicle-Battery/55275/ and the links in my posting of 26 May 2020 2:14 PM there contain photos and advice on how to do this. The index of the Fiat Ducato Owner Handbook will contain a “Battery Replacement” entry for a section in the handbbok that advises on the disconnection/reconnection procedure, but attention should be drawn to mikefitz’s posting of 28 May 2020 12:32 AM in the recent thread. This warns as follows: ...hidden away in the handbook it states that the battery must only be disconnected two minutes after the doors are closed with the ignition off. It should add that if the ignition has been on, you need to wait 10 minutes. The problem is that it takes time after the doors are closed or the ignition turned off for all the computers to shut down correctly. If the shutdown process is interrupted then there may be problems, usually its the air bag computer that fails. After the waiting time, from inside the van, remove the quick release negative terminal. The doors may now be opened and the rest of the process completed. When replacing the battery complete all the installation except the negative terminal. From inside the van with the doors closed reconnect the negative.
