ali b
Hi, we are hoping to have a couple of weeks in the Lake District this summer, looking for a friendly, clean, not too formal or too large site, ideally with an on site pub, play ground for little kids & maybe a games room or some thing to keep teenagers from moaning that they are bored in the evenings. The more beautiful the setting the better. Can anyone recommend anywhere??
CamperPete
Hi Ali, You could try Park Foot Caravan And Camping Park on the shores of Ullswater, it's quite a large site but is separated into different fields
ali b
Thanks for the suggestion Camper Pete, I looked it up, but looks abit too 'Busy' for me, don't tell my daughter I turned it down though, she would love the Lady GaGa tribute act (lol)
mel wood
The Camping and Caravanning Club site at Keswick is right on the lake side with views of mountains. There is a kiddies' playground on site. For other amenities it is only a few minutes walk into the town centre. If you decide to stay here (on on any other CCC site) it is worth joining the Club as non-members pay £7 extra per pitch per night. There are good value family packages. However, if you cancel less than 7 days before your stay you will not receive any of your £25 deposit.

ips
I would suggest Limefit park. http://www.limefitt.com/facilities.htm
Tony Jones
http://www.butterflowers.net/home.htm We lived near this place for 10 years Ali, and it ticks all your boxes but it's a little way out of the Lakes - nearest are Coniston or Wasidioter, each about 20mins drive. On the plus side though, the kids get a seaside holiday as well as you getting the Lakes - and it really is "walking distance" to the village pub and shops. Fro variety, Ravenglass and Eskdale narrow-gauge railway, and Muncaster Castle, are also nearby.

Blizzard
ips - 2010-03-31 12:51 PM I would suggest Limefit park. I could be wrong, but I don't think Limefitt caters for touring or camping :-S
