The first choice is always layout but then you work down the list to make sure everything else is compatible.

I am not convinced there is a single most important factor; I feel several critical factors all are make or break aspects.
The weight, layout, quality, size, cost, value, construction technology and an enthusiasm to own it all fall into this category.

I suppose the "enthusiasm to own it" is the premier one but I cant generate that without the other factors and a host of more minor ones being correct.
Oh and SWMBO must also be enthused or its vetoed.
