A Polish Truckers "experience"

Bulletguy

Recommended Posts

Polish trucking magazine http://40ton.net reports:

A Polish truck driver entered Kent on Monday with valid Kent permit. He turned up at Ashford when they told him that his documents need to be double-checked, so he was sent to a different truck park to wait.

On Wednesday 8-) he was informed his paperwork got a green light and told to return to Ashford custom place only to find that custom truck park is full. He was told to park on yet another truck park which serves the queue.

There, the police came and fined him 300 pounds because his Kent access permit has by this time expired. So apparently the document called "Kent access permit" needs to be renamed to "Kent accessing and then sitting for days, waiting for the paperwork permit".

Also, in Ashford drivers have to wait up to 4 hours outside in the rain in the queue to the customs office.

Found in the comments:

"The English tell you to leave the compound after paperwork is done even if your driving time is over. You can't just drive out and park in the lay-by, as they will slam a wheel clamp on you for that..."

"I've been fcuked about for two days in United Whoredom. Now the best thing: I arrived in Germany, it took 15 minutes".

Most comments though are along the lines of:

"Why do you ever go there? Haven't you learned anything after that infamous Christmas in Dover?"

"Fcuk them, as if there was not enough job in civilised Europe!"

"If they are so wise, let them send British drivers through this crap"

Gentlemen of Chatterbox, Birdbrain has been resorting to side-tracking and provocative posts and throwing insults left right and centre to keep himself active on this (and other) threads, ignoring the widespread criticism he has faced, as if he was our own pestilent Donald Trump, careless of anyone's views other than his own and determined to bluster his way through. It makes no sense to respond to him any way.

I'm not trying to censor him, simply to discourage him from going OTT and behaving so badly towards others. I suggest everyone simply ignores his posts altogether for a couple of weeks to encourage the penny to drop that he should not be so habitually nasty. He has toned his insults down a little since I started posting these notices, so they are having a useful effect.

A few regular contributors have chosen to continue responding to Birdbrain and this has shown us that he, Birdbrain, is pretty much unrepentant and is still responding in his same old ways, including with spurious, indeed rather silly counter-accusations. I would therefore ask everyone to consider simply ignoring Birdbrain's posts, to deny him the attention he clearly wants to attract.

There was a report posted the other day that said rates for trucks to come to the Uk would be going up 700 percent from £1.50 per km to £10 per km. Guess who will be paying for that at the tills?

Fishing industry is now saying the only way out of it is single market and customs union now and haulage is going to be the same. So what happens next? A defiant government just allows the death of a thousand cuts and for the economy to be even further wrecked or do they look to rejoin SM / CU? I cant see them ever caving in to the latter.

Any increases will be passed on to the consumer......assuming they manage to get the stuff in and going by this truckers experience it's not going to be long before they decide third country UK deliveries just aren't worth the hassle as they can earn more doing EU countries. This is exactly what Dover freight forwarder John Shirley said he was hearing from drivers. People like him are on the front line but government never listen to them and blindly blunder on instead with ministerial idiots who never knew Dover was such an important port.

Kent permit.

Why do we have a permit system to enter Kent?

Apart from evading the political embarrasement of pictures showing how many lorries are waiting.

It's the new border for HGV's over 7.5 tonne. A right faff of paperwork for a Brit driver so imagine how it must be for all the foreign truckers which account for the vast majority whose first language is not English.

If you would like to see what he has been posting browse pages 6 and earlier of the Trump's Last Throw of the Dice thread. Birdbrain has eased off on his insults since them but he's replaced with outraged complaining on a completely spurious basis. As you can see from reading this notice all I'm doing is asking him to tell us he's not going to be so nasty from now on.

A few regular contributors have chosen to continue responding to Birdbrain and that's a pity because I think they are likely to be giving Birdbrain encouragement but he is pretty much unrepentant so far and is sticking to his ourage about being persecuted, which of course is nonesense. Everyone seems to agree that Birdbrain's habit of aggressive posts and offensive, gratuitous insulting of people has been awful.

I would therefore ask everyone to consider simply ignoring Birdbrain's posts until he shows us that he will mend his ways. If we all do this for a while he's bound to get the message eventually.

Yes I believe the idea is to keep the trucks out of Kent unless they have the permit. I also gather that there are invisible queues now where Lorries are just not leaving depots because they cant get the paperwork together so dare not leave.

The permits are easy to get mind as we discovered on the "Kent Garden of Piss" thread. Anyone can get one. (This is an actual real permit I ordered earlier). (lol)

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO BIRDBRAIN'S POSTS

I'm sorry to have to persist with these notices but they are having a useful effect so please stick with me in this. Birdbrain is at least holding back on his insults to others on here (except that he's made me his new target of course, with silly, spurious personal challenges) so please be patient. Chatterbox is not moderated so if we ever want to discourage someone like Birdbrain from behaving like Mr Nasty, this is probably the only way to do it.

Birdbrain likes be outrageous - nothing necessarily wrong with that but he also does it with completely unnecessary nastiness by habitually showering others with personalised insults. Here's an example of how one contributor has described Birdbrain's methods: "The derogatory effeminate insults he uses as 'put downs' against any fm's not on his mates list, 'princess', 'sweet cheeks', 'the sisters', 'haters' etc are very juvenile. His personal snipes against me ("microwave meal for one again") refer to my living alone which appears to amuse him. Quite why he does this i've no idea as plenty of people live alone, but what on earth his peculiar obsession with my grandchildren is all about God alone knows and bringing an fm's grandchildren into forum discussions for no valid reason absolutely crosses the line." Another another example: " Its not nice to call people Fatty, Hater and Loser though Mr Birdbrain. I have to say thats very naughty." Everyone seems to agree that Birdbrain's habit of aggressive posts and offensive, gratuitous insulting of people has been really awful.

So that's why I started posting these suggestions that we simply cut off any responses to Birdbrain until he show's us that he is going to behave better. I'm not trying to censor him or discourage his outspokenness, simply to discourage him from behaving so nastily towards others. Since I started this campaign Birdbrain has actually stopped his habitual insults to anyone who argues with him more or less completely - although of course he has started making me his new target instead and he's trying to maintain an impression that he's not going to change. But he is clearly showing that he's rattled and frustrated, so this campaign of not responding to him and me posting these notices repetitively is working.

A few regular contributors have chosen to continue responding to Birdbrain and that's a pity because I think they are likely to be giving Birdbrain the oxygen of attention which he craves. Chatterbox contributors are perhaps not natural team players but in this sort of case I suggest that we should stick together and stay with it. I would therefore ask everyone to consider simply ignoring Birdbrain's posts, as I have done, until he shows us that he will mend his ways. If we all do this for a while he's bound to get the message eventually. It shouldn't take all that long.

Starting to get some idea of Brexit Costs

-- too much for Scottish fishermen who are going to Denmark to land their catch rather than try and export it from UK

for parcels - £4.50 for every parcel shipped to the EU to cover costs of extra administration and form filling that couriers must carry out. Second, there is a “deferment account fee” of £5 per parcel that covers couriers’ costs of pre-paying import charges in the destination country; and third, a “disbursement charge” which is set at different levels in each EU country with a minimum of about €14 per parcel, or calculated as a percentage of the value of the goods, whichever is the higher, plus VAT in the destination country.

This long established English firm looks like joining the exodus to the EU https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jan/17/shock-brexit-charges-are-hurting-us-say-small-british-businesses

No wonder pelmetman has scarpered >:-)

It just gets more and more bizarre.

Hauliers waiting for Brexit customs checks face £50 per hour HMRC charge regardless of whether your paperwork is in order or not.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/truckers-hauliers-brexit-customs-checks-hmrc-fine-trade-uk-eu-120543968.html

Its almost like they want to bring trade to a standstill. I suppose though if nobody comes here they can say "Look, no queues" which is kind of what Mr Birdbrain is repeatedly stating in another thread.

Typifies the UK with it's obsession of milking motorists for every penny they can get from them only in this case, those charges will simply be added to what the customer pays. So we just end up inflicting yet more pain on an already battered public. Brilliant.........why on earth are we so hell bent on self destruction? Just because UK cannot get itself sorted some bright spark comes up with the idea of fining the delivery drivers for our own ineptness. Staggering.

There is no point truckers bothering to deliver to a backward country with such punitive silly behaviour. I don't blame any for refusing to come here. There is plenty of work in EU countries where the drivers can earn money instead of being fined because they're in a queue.
