I see England now as a racist leaning, introvert society, glorying in the past with no compass to the future. I feel guilty that I hold such views, but I do. I wish I did not feel this way. I wish my country could engender a pride in me, but sadly it does not. We are now, because of you know what, a diminished nation. No I would prefer it if WE as a country had not exported 3.1M people in the first place. What I find objectionable is people congratulating themselves when we right a wrong and who celebrate "our ****ry's" great history without recognising that there are a lot of other countries out there who do not view us as Great, due in part to the way we colonised their countries. Strangely I'm still proud of my country we have saved Europe from itself time and again criminalised slavery given the world a language so they can understand freedom and can still find our way out of a quicksand. (^) We’ll ignore the part where we’ve spent most of the last 900years fighting it. It probably does need saving again ( from itself) and this might be the first step. Seems some are also unhappy to acknowledge our role in exporting 3.1 million slaves, although only 2.7 million managed to complete this business transaction and be imported, the problem with such a perishable cargo, So you would prefer it if Great Britain had not criminalised slavery from Africa and the royal navy had not blockaded the coast of Africa to stop the slavers so they could keep on their cruel and inhuman trade. You really are a piece of work. Mind you it seems that you have a direct contact to the numbers perhaps you were there in another life (?) No I would prefer it if WE as a country had not exported 3.1M people in the first place. What I find objectionable is people congratulating themselves when we right a wrong and who celebrate "our ****ry's" great history without recognising that there are a lot of other countries out there who do not view us as Great, due in part to the way we colonised their countries.
