As seen by a Dinosaur

I can't take any credit for composing this, that belongs to one Brian Smith.

I'm a wartime baby, long grown up and getting old

Well past my sell by date, or so I'm told

I'm firmly anchored to my past

To good old fashioned values and I am holding fast

The world moves on but I've stood still,

I've never changed and never will

My opinions now so out of date

Some are almost illegal to relate

I'll accept that I've seen better days

And now that I am out to graze

As things advance at such a pace

I'm glad to drop out of the race

We're taken over by the woke

And none of them can stand a joke

Devoid of any common sense

They look for ways to take offence

The green agenda now it means

Give up meat and and eat mung beans

On a veggie diet for too long

My urge to bite someone is strong

Well I'm not playing, for heaven's sake

I'll still have my bacon and my steak

You can keep your lentils, soya and rice

I'll not have them at any price

And no I won't get an electric car

Without much charging they don't go far

I will not pay the enormous cost

That's one plot Westminster's lost

As we help China create pollution

Our one percent is no solution

All the windmills standing still

Won't keep the light on, the atom will

I've had my say and now I'll end

These days it far to easy to offend

You lot move on, leave me behind

I'm a dinosaur and I don't mind

Ring any bells anyone!

'the atom', keeping the lights on? maybe you should ask the French who are having big problems at the moment, the same as in UK a couple of years back when the reactors developed cracks and had to be shut down, now EDF are to build another of it's flawed designs at Sizewell, it's like we never learn, lets just hope someone can work out a safe storage method for the waste, as 67 years on from the first nuclear power station we still haven't sorted that one. Still it does keep people in employment, 5 years to build (if all goes well, which it often doesn't) 30 years of operation, then 60 years to decommission.

I still feel nuclear fission has it's part to play, but only a small part until someone figures out fusion, or energy storage.

I'll still have my bacon

You won't

Because its not proper bacon anymore

Curing it the old fashioned way was ok - but it takes months

Wheras injecting it with nitrates does the job instantly, gives it colour and preserves it.

No wonder the meat processors are so fond of nitrates.

But the nitrates are linked to cancer :-(

Smile and the world smiles with you, and heaven knows the world needs to learn how to smile again.

Make what you may think are smart comments and the world believes that your head is stuck in a dark place.

Choose wisely grasshopper!

Nitrate free bacon has always been available, it's the only bacon we buy.

How do you know its 'Nitrate free' ?

Who's checking it *-)

As it doesn't come under Trading Standards remit why post that?

Interesting links, thanks.

(Shows that bad stuff happens when meat is cooked at 300degF, so I'll stick to cooking it in my pressure cooker (with the veg) which can't go above 250degF.)

"Companies that make bacon are required to undergo routine food safety checks to ensure that they are using no more than the allowed amounts of sodium nitrite (and certainly no nitrates) along with vitamin C to ensure the safety and health of all consumers of their products.

I guess that was 'red tape' we left the EU to escape from *-)

Doesn't seem to be anybody doing that for us now :-S

No wonder French Customs don't want us bringing meat products into the EU :-(

You use this forum for finding out such info, how odd. *-)

FYI there are search engines which will readily bring up the info, if your favourite of Duckduckgo doesn't then try Google or Bing.

You said it was 'Nitrate free'

I asked you how you know that

But you changed the subject instead of answering.

If you don't know, why can't you just say so?

Jesus H Corncob - what is the matter with you?

Who else gives a tuppeny fart about bacon and nitrates - just enjoy the bloomin bacon and if you don't like it don't faffinwell buy it - simples.

How hard can it be, for cryin out loud?

Get your head out of your backside and back into the real world try and enjoy a laugh without trying to score brownie points or be a smart ass or impose your own sad distortions on everybody else.

I do have to say that your avatar really suits the traits you display.

The most suitable power source for you would be wind then?

Meanwhile I'll settle for always there Nuclear.

Please do not cross the road as your risks of being hit by a vehicle or lunatic cyclist are far greater than the risks of a bacon sarnie!

Don't drink, don't smoke, don't smile - you really are a bundle of laughs - hell bent on dragging everyone else down to your level under your leaky squeaky hideaway troll bridge.

Still trolling I see.

Of cause I know, as they work with one of the government departments that I have to deal with.

I've also had to deal with Trading Standards a couple of times, back in the day when they had many more employees and where a complete waste of space.

Thats why the EU checks we had were better than nothing.

Its not just food

EU standard sunglasses are being replaced by a UK checking system that obviously isn't working

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4dq2snYkWCXfVg8CrqR9BMS/is-it-worth-paying-for-expensive-sunglasses

These are things that are supposed to protect our eyes from UV rays that can ruin our eyesight.

Thats how important it is.

I expected a puerile response from Tracker and Gremlin

But I thought you were better than that :-S

If all these things so bother you so much why not start a proper thread to discuss them rather than disrupt an unconnected topic?

How on Earth did mankind survive the millenia before we had the jobsworths of the EU to guide us?

But it might perhaps account for trolls, throwbacks and misfits like yourself!

We don't wear sunglasses so it does not affect us!!

Delighted not to disappoint you!

PS I'm enjoying a bacon sarnie today!

A sarnie a day keeps the trolls away

But not on here it's a shame to say.

Still, winding 'em up is a good game to play

So is seeing 'em squirm and wriggle away.

They have nothing to offer us any old day

Just crud and misery, tis sad, their way

Perhaps the Forum humour will return one day

Then, troll heads up bums gives a smile a day
