Perhaps if people were prepared to learn a bit more about our history and stuff like this they may start to understand where the legacy of inherent racism comes from unless of course they are quite happy with inherent racism and just dont want to know. Perhaps they dont want to feel uncomfortable learning that Britain was not so "Whiter than white". 8-) We did some great things as a country but a lot of it is nothing to be proud of nor are some of the people who now stand idolised forever as monuments and statues around the UK. I've always found it very childish tbh and often wonder at the limit of television these folks watch....probably soap trash. I don't think Pelmet was ever taught anything in history at school about British colonialism....but if so it would have gone straight over his head. Though George Orwells father ran an opium plantation in India where Orwell was born, but by the time he was, his family had frittered their wealth away.
