Britons now applying for German citizenship

A record number of 7,493 Britons sought German citizenship in 2017, a 162 per cent rise over 2016, Germany’s Federal Statistics Office has reported.

In 2016 and 2017, 10,358 Britons became German, more than twice as many as in the previous 15 years put together, the office said.

Many British expats are in a hurry to get German passports before Brexit because they will be assured of dual citizenship if they do so while Britain is still in the EU. Once Britain has left the bloc, they might have to ditch their British citizenship to become German.

But here's the irony. Most have connections through Jewish heritage whose forebears were hounded out of Germany by Hitlers Nazism. Now through similar political ideology brought about by Brexit, they are reclaiming their citizenship back to ensure their freedom of movement.

"Initially I’d applied for German citizenship as a way to move around Europe after Brexit. A lot of Remainers want that." Hhmm......for sure yes, so do a lot of Brexiters with certain ones indulging duplicitous dealings trying to outwit authorities.

The experiences are well worth reading.

How very sad if true that Jews have left because of Brexit ... Its not a real surprise though given the amount of remoaners who've spread disgusting fake news ... Take just on here both you and Barry guilty of terrible smears against leave voters even going as for as blaming them for murder and attacks ... Nice to see your concerned about Jews though , does it stretch as far as the 40% who'd leave if vile anti-Semite Jeremy and his crew get in power ??? ... https://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/nearly-40-per-cent-of-british-jews-would-seriously-consider-emigrating-if-corbyn-became-pm-1.469270
