Emergency Brexit stimulus from BoE in June 2016 of £175b. Brexit related fall in national revenue £500b. GDP fallen to -0.1%. GBP fallen by circa 15% versus EUR and USD. Manufacturing in recession. Construction in recession. Services close to recession. 25-30% cuts to all govt departments. 25-30% cuts to all councils, mainly centred on Labour councils. Half of councils facing effective bankruptcy. 185k extra deaths attached to the political ideology of austerity. 25,000 less police. 20,000 less prison officers. 10,000 less border officials. 10,000 less firefighters. 10,000 less doctors. 40,000 nurses vacancies. 25,000 less bed spaces for mental illness. OECD calculate 3 million hidden unemployed, rate is really 13%. Creation of 1.3m jobs, mainly temporary, self employed, gig economy and ZHC. Only 30k full time work positions created. The Government intervenes in the housing market to restrict supply with planning constraints, whilst stoking up demand with taxpayer funded subsidies like their so-called 'Help to Buy'. Then cramming everything into London to force up property prices there even further. Much of what you posted above can be traced back to high housing costs. To the benefit of people like the Duke of Westminster who has seen his property portfolio increase to £10 billion, which he effectively inherited tax free. We need to be able to over rule selfish vested interests to build desperately needed housing, as the Government does whenever it suits them to build military establishments without even telling local NIMBYS, let alone giving them a veto. The landlords controlling the Government seem content to continue taking advantage of the housing crisis, whilst blaming others for the housing shortage. Sound like houses i call rabbit hutches with not enough room to swing a cat in. Quality is poor and space, non-existent. There's a patch of farm land behind me the owner has been attempting to sell off for property development of 60 of these rabbit hutches. If you saw the amount of land you'd laugh as there's just about enough to build ten properties fit for human habitation. BUT.....and this is the major negative, the land has always been subject to serious flooding so before anything could be built it would require some serious drainage work.
