Where is the lie, Dave? No government source has said the leaked documents are false.

Leaked documents are bound to have come from an unofficial source: they are leaked, not officially published. Their unofficial publication shows that the US wanted to pursue greater penetration of the NHS as a quid pro quo for greater penetration of US markets for UK companies. This is not denied.

The silly claim that the NHS is up for sale is merely election muck raking and scare mongering for political gain.

The NHS buys everything it needs, from beds and bed linen to surgical instruments, scanners, X-ray machines, drugs and bandages, on the world market. The hospitals and medical centres are designed, built and maintained by private companies.

The only thing the NHS directly supplies is the army of doctors, nurses, and administrators (down to and including cleaners), that collectively provide the actual service.

The argument is about how much should be paid for drugs (which US companies have, hitherto, apparently sold to the UK for less than they cost in the US. What is wrong with that? How would it be to our advantage to pay more?), and to what extent private providers should be allowed to take on some of the specialist support functions, such as laboratory testing etc.

The concern is that all we are likely to get in return for as yet unspecified commercial advantages in the US markets is higher costs for the NHS with no concomitant improvement in the service. You do realise that the US has the highest healthcare costs in the world, don't you?

Why should UK tax payers effectively subsidise UK companies' sales in the US when UK tax payers would gain no reciprocal advantage? You're no spendthrift, why would you champion a scheme like that?

Some cost comparison charts here showing the vast difference in US charges to other developed countries and though the US spends more, it's citizens get less healthcare with many driven to bankruptcy or losing their homes.

More LOSER hogwash *-) .........

Tory HQ were quick to rebut the claims, pointing out:

The document was produced immediately after the deal was struck and represents a ‘flash analysis’ of what the obligations of the protocol might be, and appears to have been based on a partial reading of the final deal

The document was not written for, and was not used for, decision-making purposes and has not been seen by the Chancellor, the Prime Minister or any of the senior officials involved in the negotiations

The document contains a number of question marks which shows that it is an incomplete analysis

The document itself makes clear that it is not a definitive statement of the situation, highlighting that there are ‘policy questions’ that have to be answered

Conservative Party Chairman James Cleverly, observed:

“Once again, Jeremy Corbyn is brandishing leaked documents that don’t back up his wild conspiracy theories. This is just another desperate attempt to distract from his refusal to take a position on the biggest issue of the day. He simply cannot be trusted. He won’t honour the result of the first referendum and now wants to fiddle a second referendum by changing the rules and allowing millions of EU nationals to cast ballots too. Labour have been exposed - they are planning to rig our whole democracy in a desperate bid to force us to stay in the EU.”

Yep more desperate LOSER spin spin spin (lol) (lol) (lol) ..........

Well, Mr Cleverly did not say that the document is in any way false, did he? So, it must be assumed that it is not. If it contained inaccuracies, he would have been all over them as the quickest way to refute what was claimed to have been discussed, and then laid into Corbyn for peddling falsehoods. He didn't, which to me speaks volumes.

The nearest he gets is to say the document does not back up Corbyn's claims. Corbyn is notably woolly, and his only claim, so far as I'm aware, is a rather hysterical one that the NHS is up for sale. So what does "not backing up" really mean? Just that the NHS in its entirety is not for sale? Cleverly does not deal with the possibility that parts might be hived off to US companies, or that a deal on the price of US drugs might be struck. Smoke and fire?

Besides, I don't see why you assume objections to those possibilities have anything to do with Brexit. Any government could, at any time, Brexit or no Brexit, decide to sell off bits of the NHS if so minded. Example here: https://tinyurl.com/yxqxtsp9 Did you know about that? There are reasons other than Brexit for objecting to such sales. The government sold UK Plasma Resources to Bain Capital in 2013 for £M230. Bain then sold it on to the Chinese in 2016 for £M820. Who, apart from Bain and China, stands to benefit from that? That is the point.

There is no doubt that the document was written by someone in the civil service ;-) ..........

Just as there is no doubt that our establishment is riddled with Remoaners *-) ........

So I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was written and leaked by the same person >:-) ..........
