I see that the shadow home secretary has twittered that police should not be using their specialist trained units to take down moped criminals, she seems unaware of what the police sign up to.

I will only use force as part of my role and responsibilities, and only to the extent that it is necessary, proportionate and reasonable in all the circumstances.

The videos I’ve seen seem most concerning but absent of any context we don’t really know what risks the moped drivers posed to innocent members of the public. Whilst there may be the odd police officer who is a bit gung-ho on the whole I trust our boys/girls in blue to make the best decision they can in all the circumstances. Let’s face it they must answer for every action they take if someone is injured or dies as a result of anything they do.

This scourge of robbing, violent thieves on mopeds is alarming. Desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures. Diane should be a little more circumspect when criticising the police and find out a bit more about these incidents before opening her mouth. She is not a good candidate for Home Secretary in my view. It is a very demanding job and requires someone who is capable of putting aside their biases and making sure they are fully informed before commenting on any issue.

.

I do.

The risk to the innocent members of the public is that if these people aren't stopped - MORE innocent members of the public will have their phones stolen.

It's certainly caused controversy but shows the sheer desperation a grossly undermanned police force has been driven to in battling crime. They are now so overstretched they patrol as single units in cars but today's youth have no respect for police and it's down to lack of parental control and discipline. The latter flew out the window years ago once they removed it from schools and when you look at the role models these kids have for parents, it's ever likely they end up as thugs.

When you look at the.prison stats one can only come to the conclusion that immigrants and those from immigrant backgrounds are the ones with least respect for the police and terrible parents if your theory is correct

We imported cheap migrant labour in the 50s and 60s, we kept most of them poor and when some of their descendants find out that they get nowhere by keeping to the rules some decided to break them.

Well without stating the bleeding obvious most were employed in lower skilled/paid work but still much more money than in their homelands ... I think youve actually just knocked many of the decent folk I know from the West Indies and Indians that have worked bloody hard to get what they have by legal means ... Some of the most decent family orientated folk I know are black and thats quite a slur to say that "we kept most of them poor" so their descendants in your view have resorted to criminal activity ... Utter wet whingy rubbish

Where did I knock any decent people be they from the West Indies, India or elsewhere? To be poor is no sin. I only said that some of the descendants of the cheap migrant labour force have decided to break the rules when they found out that they got nowhere by sticking to them. I repeat "some".
