EU Fishery discards policy

It's common knowledge that during the three years Farage was a member of the European Parliament Fisheries Committee, he attended just one out of 42 meetings.

Here he defends that by saying there was "no legislative role, you couldn't do a thing, we are leaving."

Where Farage failed (because he never really had the interest of UK's fishing industry in mind at all)......a TV Chef succeeded. Speaks volumes.

Unfortunately for you it's the batsh1t crazy UK.......not EU. Legislation was passed six years ago after Fearnley-Whittingstall's campaign, but as we've seen so many times, UK government has a habit of ignoring EU legislation which 'doesn't suit' or not being prepared to implement.

Unelected peers in the House of Lords report has said an EU ban on throwing dead fish back into the sea cannot be enforced without causing the industry significant harm. The inquiry concluded that the UK and Scottish governments had not introduced sufficient tools to enforce the ban on discards.

Responding to the Lords' report, chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said: "Now it has become clear, from the report published today by the House of Lords, that UK government's preparations for the phased-in discards ban are completely inadequate, and their enforcement practically non-existent.

Farage's silly stunt on the Thames chucking bins of dead fish over the side of a boat should have got him arrested for intentional pollution.....instead it excited the anti-EU lot who swallowed the myth that it was "all the fault of the nasty EU".

You need ask yourself why you are attempting to 'defend' the codswallop you have come out with desperately trying to blame the EU when it's patently clear to anyone who can read, that's not the case. The EU legislated six years ago.....UK have failed to implement.

What part of the below para's are you struggling to comprehend? *-)

I doubt anyone who's livelihood depended on "EU fishing rules" would chuck away £1000's of pounds worth of fish without knowing he'd be in deep sh*t otherwise *-) ........

Except what you are not 'just sayin' is you agree that the HoL reported; UK and Scottish governments had not introduced sufficient tools to enforce the ban on discards. It's very clearly stated so the conclusion i draw from your obvious reluctance to agree on that is for you, an awkward truth has been exposed...yet again, showing that it is not the fault or failings of EU to implement as you'd hoped it would be, but of UK government who failed to implement.

I'm satisfied by your persistent reluctance to acknowledge that significant fact as an admittance of yet another of your 'fails' to blame EU.

I knew all along it was an awkward truth for you to face up to. The facts were shown to you.....but as usual you covered your eyes, stuck your fingers in ears and buried your head wishing there was just some way you could find to put blame on the EU......but failed as you were shown it was UK's failure to introduce sufficient tools to enforce the ban on discards. The HoL report stated that uncomfortable fact but you prefer to remain in a state of denial.
