It seems not ureasonable to me that if he is putting more money into England that he would also put more money into the other countries of the Union?

No doubt when the mood changes North of the border you will be screaming about how unfair it all is!

I haven't followed Budgets for years now ever since i realised what a bi-annual circus of clowns it's become with the usual sneering and gloating. Feed the rich....bash the less well off being the usual mantra.

Duty on beer, cider and spirits frozen for the next year but cigarettes up a staggering 49p a pack yet it's long been a well established fact alcohol causes a far bigger drain on the NHS than smoking. So even more drunks and pissheads will now clutter up A&E every weekend abusing and assaulting hospital staff...and smokers get billed for it by punitive taxation.

How warped and twisted is that illogical line of thought? *-)

Isnt singling out "drunks and p!$$heads" wrong ??? ... Dont those who aren't drunk attack NHS staff ??? My daughter works for the NHS and in her department they dont have to be under the influence of anything to attack verbally or physically ... Singling out certain members of our community is so wrong

I'm teetotal because I have seen what alcohol does to people..

When I see people drinking I just think they are sad - because if they were happy they wouldn't need alcohol to take them somewhere else :-(

But I'm not sure raising the price would help.

Across the channel alcohol is far cheaper but they have far less problems with drunks - why is that?

And because its cheaper across the channel, raising the price here only increases the problems caused by bootlegging :-(

But I agree its a typical Tory budget. Funding consumption and tax cuts for the better off through borrowing. With nothing for the poor below the income tax thresholds because they aren't likely to vote Tory anyway..

Try telling the foodbanks and homeless shelters Austerity is coming to an end.

But I suppose there is one bright spot.

They must be worried about Corbyn because they have gone into tax cutting/extra money for Ireland/Scotland?Wales election mode early.

However dangerous that may be with all the uncertainty surrounding Brexit.

Yet again the interests of the Tory Party are being put ahead of the interests of the country. >:-)

It makes no difference to me whether the money taken from me (and you) is spent in Ireland/Wales/Scotland or the EU.

But it obviously makes a difference to the politicians in Westminster.

Top half of households to benefit from 84% of the cuts, says Resolution Foundation

Same Old Tories

Yep .......reward those who are prepared to get off the a*rses and work B-) .........

In a Rent Extracting Economy, Those who are prepared to get off their arses and work are jore likely to be poor - juggling several zero-hours contracts to pay the rent to someone who has inherited the property (tax free like the Duke of Westminster's £10 billion pile). .

If it wasborrowing to fund investment - build council houses,or whatever, it may be justified.

But this is just borrowing to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.

I'm at Girvan, taking advantage of the free parking etc paid for by the English taxpayer.

Just been talking to a local guy who was moaning about Nicola Sturgeon. Saying we ge £2,000 per person per year from england, and Sturgeon wants us to give that up so she can rule us.

I had to point out that without Nicola Sturgeon he wouldn't have got the £2,000 a year in the first place.

Though my Dad was a life long teetotaler i can't lay claim to that and never would. However i long stopped bothering with a pint or three down the local and never drink at home, though there's a cupboard full of spirits and liqueurs in my kitchen which have been there 20 odd years now....some still unopened!

Here in UK i virtually never drink. This year i had a drink with a neighbour at Christmas and the next alcoholic drink i had was in Belgium at the start of my tour in June. That's how much of 'a drinker' i am!

We have a serious alcohol problem in UK John, particularly with cheap beer and cider from supermarkets. It's so cheap now the "booze cruise" runs across the Channel which were once a daily occurrence, have pretty much come to an end. It just seems a totally obtuse and illogical line of thought to whack 49p on a pack of 20 cigs whilst freezing tax duty on the main culprit of abuse and attacks hospital staff receive, not to mention the levels of alcohol related illnesses and accidents caused through drink.

It's sent out entirely the wrong message.

I know folk that still do the booze run ... I was invited to go myself not long ago ... Some wine is cheap here maybe £4/5 but you can buy much better in France for the same or less ... As mentioned previously my daughter works for the NHS and the main abuse her department gets is from drug users not drinkers , though I aren't saying drunks dont cause problems as do male Muslims who aren't allowed in the cubicles with their wives

I thought one could have some-one else with them, when visiting a Doctor?

I would understand not in an operation etc. But surely as an out patient?

Living where we are, we don't really have "other" nationals around us. Just plain "old" english! OLD being very dominant! Us included!

Mind you it was different , when we lived close to Wembley, and OH worked in Slough , but that was a long long time ago!

This is not the end of austerity, but it maybe perhaps the begining of the end of austerity?

And then as the years pass and memories fade, a new growth of young easily brainwashed idealists joins the electorate just as many of those that do remember the cock ups of the Brown years leave the eloctorate.

And so the inept so called elite who like call themselves free market capitalists will be voted out and those who call themselves equalist socialists to hide their real aims will get voted back into power and the whole silly cycle will start all over again.

Cynical? Me? You bet I'm cynical, I've lived too long not to be cynical!
