Some FANtastic responces to "Clives Conumdrum" (P33) from quite a few including some names from this forum. It had me cracked up! As all seem to have sussed, I was playing with a DIY wind generator. The 6 blades are made from a length of plastic soil pipe (new!) The ROTOR is a group of rare earth magnets The STATOR is a wave wound coil of enameled copper wire. It works, Its primitave, its output is AC so it has a diode rectifier but the aerodynamic efficiency of the propellor is garbage. But its fun. Here are a few more piccies of the experiment. Old Git Posted August 20, 2007 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Love it Clive. You're even dafter than I am - how refreshing to find another dedicated eccentric. Fan charges the battery downhill. Mercury switch reverses the polarity as nose of car rises above the horizontal. Battery now drives the fan for turbo-boost up the hill. Expect a visit from the heavies from Shell, BP and Texaco.
