Ford engine plant to CLOSE

Bulletguy

Recommended Posts

Ford at Bridgend, South Wales is to shut down it's entire plant with the loss of 1,700 employees plus more in the supply chain. The destruction of the UK car industry is now almost complete and South Wales will become a 'ghost state'.

Of course, 'nothing to do with Brexit'....it never is. *-)

Helmethead will be along soon waffling his usual bull about 'global downturn'. *-)

Funny but entire businesses in UK are either shutting down, or fleeing the country to where they can continue production/business with JIT and FTA's.

Who would have guessed the usual suspect with the usual guff ... Around 2000 pubs have shut since the Brexit vote so maybe we can blame Brexit for that ... Churches shut their doors at an alarming rate so maybe we can blame Brexit for that ... A local DIY shop shut recently and I blame Brexit ... Lordy dont they ever get tired

So Ford are shedding 7000 jobs worldwide because of Brexit? ;-) .........

"Ford has confirmed it will cut 7,000 employees worldwide by the end of August to make an annual saving of £470 million

Ford will cut 10 per cent of its global salaried workforce by the end of August 2019 as it looks to save $600 million (roughly £470 million) a year. These cuts are part of an “organisational redesign process” that will see approximately 7,000 Ford employees around the world lose their jobs."

Which is jargon for "due to the uncertainty of Brexit we need to move where can continue production....we need seamless JIT and fta's etc". Guess what.....they shipped out to Mexico which already has excellent trade deals in place with the EU with tariff free exemption on engines up to 1.8ltr and are currently negotiating even better deals with them.

We could have had those deals......but you lot slammed the door so another Brexit success for slinging more folk out of work.

I notice you edited this bit out of your cut 'n paste job too; Ford could cut up to 550 jobs in the UK as part of a massive restructuring of its European operations.

Well that was well out by 1150 as it's 1,700 gone. That's 1,700 jobless with mortgages or rent to pay, so many will no doubt end up on the streets thanks to your selfish insanity.

The facts are the automotive industry is currently in decline, Ford have not cited Brexit as a reason for this closure but of course it is going to have an impact. Its having an impact across all our industry. When things get tough though cutting one of your limbs off in the fight for survivial is never a good idea and that is what Brexit is like for manufacturing and automotive. In difficult times we just made everything a load harder for ourselves. If Brexit leads to further austerity and the economy tanks I really pity those that end up on the scrap heap. They are really going to struggle.

No company is ever going to say, "we are shutting our factory down because of the way you lot voted......but please keep buying our products". So let's not mince words here, Brexit was certainly a contributing factor as it has been with all closures, job losses and/or relocation out of this crazy country. But no Brexiter will ever accept an iota of responsibility and hold their hand up.

Typically Bridgend in the referendum is yet another example of turkeys voting for Christmas with 54.6% to Leave which begs the question, just how many of those who voted Leave worked at Ford? Who the hell in their right mind votes themselves out of a job? You just can't fix stupid.....not even with unicorns.

The only people i sympathise with is those sensible enough to see through all the crap and silly soundbites being pumped out by the Leave lot and once that stupid bus was wheeled out with a big fat lie plastered all over it, that should have been enough alone to tell any fence sitting ditherers of the duplicitous shenanigans which could only lead the country to where it is now......to hell in a handbasket.

If "Commie" Corbyn gets in and there is no Brexit or a BRINO then its nobody's fault but you Brexiteers. You all laughed at me when I said there could be a Corbyn government before Brexit is delivered. You might not be laughing if they have to call an election when the new PM has no majority and cannot command the house.

A foolish comparison to use (though not unsurprising given your insane 'Germanophobia'). *-)

Where Ford GmbH have a massive commercial interest with almost 30,000 employees, production facilities turning out almost 2,000 vehicles a day seven days a week, Ford UK employ just 13,000 over three sites, now to become two and possibly zero, making engines and gearboxes.

Instead of obsessing over other countries, in particular one which you know absolutely nothing about, you need to start addressing the huge amount of damage Brexit has done to the UK post referendum and it's about time you began coming up with answers instead of petty whataboutery and lame excuses every time.

I knew you'd find that post too complicated but i really shouldn't need to be potty training a deranged adult. Fyi with Bridgend gone there will be a total loss of 9,000 employees from the UK automotive industry since Brexit and that figure will certainly increase as Ford only have two other plants.

Funny but entire businesses in UK are either shutting down, or fleeing the country to where they can continue production/business with JIT and FTA's.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/jun/06/ford-to-close-bridgend-factory-in-september-2020

These cuts are part of an “organisational redesign process”....

So the 3000 jobs Ford are cutting in Germany are because of Brexit? *-) ............

Silly me *-) .........I forgot I was dealing with a labored idiot with a Diane Abbotcus :D ........

So 1700 is more than 3000? ;-) ........and are they blaming it on Brexit? >:-) ........

Just askin? (lol) .......

I knew you'd find that post too complicated but i really shouldn't need to be potty training a deranged adult. Fyi with Bridgend gone there will be a total loss of 9,000 employees from the UK automotive industry since Brexit and that figure will certainly increase as Ford only have two other plants.

You...

It's pointless engaging with you until you can start engaging what bit is left of that solitary brain cell you might have. You've done nothing but post utter tripe which even makes Twitter look almost intelligent. Go back to licking your wounds over that silly one trick party you're in mourning over.

You just keep on digging yourself deeper into a hole with such inane comments. Brexit has trashed the country, thrown thousands of people out of work, closed businesses down apart from those fortunate enough to be able to relocate, yet you seem positively proud of this 'achievement' instead of feeling utter shame.

You dress up your opinions in declarations of faux patriotism and democracy while your words and actions show that you either don't know the meanings of those words or that you simply don't care about your hypocrisy. You're beneath contempt.
