Hands, Face, Space

Universally condemned by Scientists as being the wrong way round, because airborne transmission is by far the greatest danger. So what 'science' is BoJo following ?

When BoJo was asked who would take over if he got Covid he replied 'I'll be washing my hands'

... and what use was that. ?

Scientists explain why reducing social distancing and subsidising people to go to the pub has inevitably led to a second wave;

The social distancing thing has never been emphasised enough by this government. I was horrified when they reduced it to 1 metre. 1 metre is back to normal. Its typically the distance you would stand next to someone in a conversation.

I remember when it was announced going out to see a client in a quarry and some bloke coming running in to show me something really close. I had to tell him to back off and keep two metres apart. His response? "Boris says its 1 metre now". You can guess my response. 8-)

The washing hands thing was always a load of bollox. Keeping apart was always key.

Probably wouldn't be so bad in a quarry - at least its outside

Pubs is the worst possible place to reduce the distance

people indoors

facing each other

raising their voices to be heard

losing their inhibitions

And, to cap it all, BoJo gives them our money to do it

The penny seems to have finally dropped

But it would be too politically embarrasing to close them again

So we just get the useless gesture of closing them at 10 instead.

Washing hands IS key. Same for any other colds, flu ,viruses.

Absolutely right.

Unless you can go shopping, or to a pub, club or restaurant without touching ANYTHING that ANYONE has breathed on, in which case you might like to take a chance and not wash your hands.

:-(

Well it didn't work for Bojo did it?

When he was asked who would take over if he got the virus his reply was 'I'll be washing my hands'

Then when he got the virus he clung on to power so the Government was paralysed.... late lockdown. highest death rate in EU and worst GDP fall in G7.

If you read the link the experts explain why airborne transmission is far more likely

And Bojo reducing the distance to 1 metre in pubs, and giving people our money to go to his supporter Tim Martin's pubs, created the perfect conditions for spreading the virus >:-)

A fact that might have finally dawned on Bojo.

But he won't close the pubs again because it would be politically embarrassing :-S

The virus comes out on the infected person's breath

facing them, indoors with no wind to blow it away, at 1 metre, whilst they are talking loudly to be overheard, guarantees you will be breathing it in - in substantial amounts - whilst its still very active.

Yes their breath could land on something, you might touch it, touch your face, and ingest a small amount of it, which might still be active.

But its much less of a certainty than facing someone in a pub with no face mask

And even then it would be a much lower dose - which gives your immune system a much better chance to fight it.

You are right though. The washing hands thing is complete bollox. Wont do any harm of course and could slightly reduce the risk but its face to face that is the issue and social distancing. That is what the scientists are saying.

Not the science that Bojo is following apparently

That seems to come from his Brexiteer supporter Tim Martin, boss of Wetherspoon.

and consists of throwing our money at his pubs to get them busy again :-S

I’m not sure what point you are arguing. Hands ,face ,space ...all three are important,it’s pure guesswork to say “ the wind will blow it away” . I’ve just been on a bus, with a face mask, not near anyone but didn’t touch anything with my hands. I watched a women walk down the isle to get off holding each handrail. When off she took out her mobile and started talking on it. If there was anything to pick up ...she would have.

Its not guesswork - its a fact that wind will blow airborne virus away.

There may not always be wind outside, but there nearly always is.

Unlike indoors.

The point I am trying to make is that space should come first.

The virus is breathed out -

so facing someone breathing it in, indoors, at only one metre, its guaranteed you will get it - when its 'fresh' and at its most powerful - and in quantity if they are raising their voice to be heard in a pub.

Which Bojo has actively encouraged people to do - even giving them our money to do it!!!!!!

Bojo needs to admit that was a catastrophic mistake.

High street and casual dining sector was already in crisis before covid.

Sadly, we have too many pubs and restaurants and some need to close if they can't maintain 2 metre distancing like everywhere else

Even though it means BoJo's Brexiteer supporter and pub owner will lose money

Whats the use of closing the pubs at 10

Does the virus not come out till 10

When they breath the virus out ;

it might land on something

you might touch it

you might touch your lips

- al lot of 'ifs' there and even if it all happens you will get a much lower dose, and it will be older and weaker virus, than breathing it straight in

Think I will stick with the advice from Professor Tim Spector who runs the Covid19 research track app. Washing hands is important according to him, along with mask and distance.

Don't forget the eyes ;-) .........

That's why gas masks cover the whole face :D ..........

Nobody said washing hands isn't important

But common sense tells us that the certainty of breathing the virus straight in is worse than the possibility of getting a smaller, older, dose indirectly.

So Space should come first

He seems to be doing quite well. He’s now got Government funding and 4 million + responding to the daily reporting. Clearly you know nothing about it. Perhaps you need to put your money where your mouth is and down load the app and start reporting. You can also see how each part of the country is doing on a daily basis.

Keeping distance on its own is less effective than doing all three.

So has Tim Martin, BoJo's Brexiteer supporter of Wetherspoons.

Doesn't mean he is doing well.

Except for himself with our money.

You obviously haven’t looked at the app, so it’s just more wild guessing from you. It is run by Kings College Hospital London, so if they are doing well with our money then that’s great by me.
