Has Tory austerity made people suffer?

Well.....breakfast telly hostess turned "politician" Esther McVey, launched a study costing £200k to find out something anyone in Merseyside could tell her for free. *-)

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/esther-mcvey-wants-know-tory-14981297

"Just goes to show what a clueless, delusional, gravy-train riding idiot she really is."

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/what-scousers-think-esther-mcveys-14984702

But but.....wait a minute. Treeza the Terrible told us only 10 days ago "austerity is over". (Remember that loon who stood on a ship and declared "Mission Accomplished"....only for the current buffoon loon to repeat exactly the same rubbish 15 years later?) Oh brother! *-)

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-austerity-end-over-speech-conservative-conference-tory-labour-a8566526.html

So Corbyn tore May to shreds at this weeks PMQ's over austerity. And she had no answers. None. Zero. So she evades and ducks and dives (hmmm.....reminds me of a couple of posters on here every time they've boxed themselves into a corner).

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/theresa-walloped-parliament-over-austerity-13411266

And now in the same week McVey is forced to admit universal credit will leave "some families worse off". *-)

Maybe like Labours John McDonnell says she needs "lynching"

Except it wasn't initially said by him and you know that really don't you?

Remind me again which W&P Secretary engineered Universal Credit? *-)

Remind me again which W&P Secretary finally grudgingly admitted "some people will be worse off under universal credit"?

Remind me again the name of the PM who only 10 days ago infamously claimed "austerity is over"?

I know you won't answer any of the above as it's too painful for you and you'd just do the same ducking diving and deflection as the woman you once lauded as "a Saint" (soon dropped that didn't you?!!) (lol)(lol)

So i'll name 'em for you;

Iain Duncan-Smith...........Tory

Esther McVey....................Tory

Theresa May......................Tory

Everything when the WP secretary involved actually admits people "will be worse off", not to mention a former Tory PM whose lambasted it. Incidentally UC is also paid to people in work on low income and i doubt they'd appreciate being called "professionally idle".......which i must admit smacks of sheer blatant hypocrisy coming from someone who seems to have made a career from being bone idle.

Oh back to goal post shifting again eh and 'it's all Labours fault'..........Quelle Surprise. *-)

This concerns Universal Tax Credit rolled out by the current Government.....not the previous....not even the previous Tory government for that matter.....THIS government. So quit deflecting, ducking, diving and blame shifting.

Admit it.......it's a catastrophe which has even been condemned and lambasted by a former Tory PM, IDS saying May is 'betraying those most in need' (oh the irony) and must inject at least £2bn more to it, and the current WP finally admitting 'some will be worse off' under UC.

You can't keep blaming previous government for a current governments crass ineptness. I suppose everything that goes tits up in Brexit and doesn't pan out as you were told it would is 'all the fault of Remain' too eh? *-)

When are you lot going to start accepting responsibilities, hold your hand up, and admit 'yep we got it all badly wrong'?

Pedantry won't cut it. UC is a disaster with even the Torygraph condemning it and STILL you choose to ignore the fact it will affect thousands of employed. *-)

It was Labour who introduced tax credits which effectively gave the green light for big business to pay just the minimum wage....... because they knew the taxpayer would top up their wages *-) ........

Universal Credit is an attempt to rein in the profligacy of yet another Labour brain dead idea >:-) ......

I cant say I know anyone with a universal credit problem ;-) ...........

But I do know plenty of whinging loony lefties who just love blaming the Tories for everything *-) ...........

Perhaps if Labour didn't feck up the economy every time they get the keys to No 10, you would be qualified to criticise >:-) .........

My daughter sales manager to new store open where I live needed 52 full time staff to operate the store many of the applicants claimed to only be able to work 16 hours even though they were fit didn't say that they would still be able to claim benefits taking on these would be unfair to the one's who would work full time for probably the equal financial return. Would that be fair. (?)

Maybe like Labours John McDonnell says she needs "lynching"

Except it wasn't initially said by him and you know that really don't you?

Nice try Bullet ...........

Those of us with more than just the Left side of their brain still functioning >:-)........

Know Labour caused austerity with their usual tax & spend profligacy *-) .............

Adolf Corbyn will be proud of your attempts at spreading left wing propaganda though ;-) ..........

Maybe you should apply for the job as "Labours Lord Haw Haw" (lol) ...........

Oh dear. *-)*-)

So i'll name 'em for you;

Iain Duncan-Smith...........Tory

Esther McVey....................Tory

Theresa May......................Tory

BTW......What's wrong with making the benefit system less inviting to the professionally idle? :-S ........

It's not a matter of knowing anyone on UC but a matter of understanding the concept of it. In-work benefits always end up being welfare for business rather than for the benefit of the individual. It’s just been used as a cover to cut benefits and also a cynical method of massaging *employment* figures.

It's been introduced by this current government which is Tory so it's a pathetic excuse to blame shift Labour when they aren't in government. Do try to stick to with what the current government in power are doing rather than one that isn't or any past government. *-)

Sorry Teflon but your post simply doesn't stack up or make any sense.

Who on earth applies for a job with full time hours when they know they cannot for whatever reason work any more than 16 hours?

Hi,

Translation of above ... "Do not try to learn from the mistakes of others!"

Except no other government dreamt up UC....this government did. IDS was it's architect yet even he says it won't work without billions throwing at it.

Sorry 602 but it's high time this government began following a well known quote...."the buck stops here".....and took responsibility for their insane actions and fessed up when they cock up instead of blame shifting.

Because if the refused to apply for work they would get their benefits cut. All of them were between late teens and early twenties ie the benefit cheat generation brought up to expect the state to support them instead of working to support themselves.

Why don't we all vote Labour at the next general election, then we can all benefit from a revived NHS and more generous pensions (and increased benefits for lots more that don't already get them) safe in the knowledge that our generation will never have to pay back the mountain of debt?

We can laugh heartily knowing that we will benefit but paying for it will fall to those young enough to pay loadsa tax, assuming there any real jobs left, and daft enough to vote for Labour themselves.

Now that's real irony for you!

Teflon.......bib is what i've already covered in a previous post..."In-work benefits always end up being welfare for business rather than for the benefit of the individual. It’s just been used as a cover to cut benefits and also a cynical method of massaging *employment* figures."

Regards fraud, nobody can condone benefit fraud just as nobody should condone tax fraud and to put that into perspective, tax fraud costs the country more than three times the amount benefit fraud does. Yet oddly people choose to turn a blind eye the many £billions lost through tax fraud, in preference to shouting loudly about benefit cheats.

3,600 people work in the DWP investigating abuses of the benefit system, while just 700 work in the two units at HMRC that deal with UK's wealthiest tax cheats. Also approx £14bn a year simply goes 'uncollected' because a) they haven't enough staff, or b) they can't be bothered.

Funny but the voice on the many wealthy tax cheating blood sucking leeches is extraordinarily quiet to the point of being mute. I wonder why that is?

People have grown weary of the incessant stream of 'benefit basher' tv programmes and Wail headers drip fed over the past few years of this governments office, but many have now wised up and begun to question the differences between the two types of fraud i mentioned. The figures regarding tax fraud are mind blowing.

Yes there are people who don't want to work. We know that from our reliance on EU/non-EU workers. But Brexit hounded those people out with many no longer prepared to return to a country which hates them. Perhaps the daftest Brexit mantra was "we want our country back" (nobody ever took it away) and "taking back control" (control of what?). Are those people now going to step up to the plate and go out to work at the jobs they chased 'johnny foreigner' away from?

You've more chance of Hell freezing over!

Then there are those who genuinely cannot work for many varying reasons from physical disabilities through to mental health conditions. Why are we so keen to punish these people with draconian measures who, through no fault of their own, find themselves unable to work?
