With the season of goodwill, and shrinking bank accounts, rapidly approaching I thought I would pass on the following web pages from Microsoft Home User Security news letter from 15 November. I do appreciate that a lot of people are already security aware but it never hurts to get extra info. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/online/site_spoofing.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/online/onlinestore.mspx For those of you who want more in-depth reading try http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx Keep safe on-line Cheers

Hiya Julie, While they are all pontificating about the need to reply to any postings, they have gone and left you all alone and unanswered. Security problems with card or internet transactions don,t apply to me because I only ever use cash, although the wife has bought over the web for years without any problems as have thousands of others I suppose. There was a recent case at two Shell garages where accounts were emptied after card details were taken from those little machines on the counter, so even if its more conveniant to use a card, I,ll stick to proper money. To be honest I didn't expect any responses. I was moved to post by the report that online banking fraud has risen 55% in the first 6 months of this year and with Christmas looming it's the time when people are using the internet and web-sites that they may otherwise be wary of. Various commentators have stated that chip and pin has had good success in reducing card fraud but that this has led to the criminals looking to maintain their nefarious lifestyle in other illegal ways. The internet is a very useful tool but it is unregulated and anyone using it has to be their own judge and jury. Not always an easy task. Cheers
