There you go Dave.

So they've finally woken up to the biggest political event in the UK since the referendum :D .........

Not really.

After the result of the EU elections, Labour and Tory parties found out that no-one likes them any more.

When the Peterborough result is announced it is expected that Labour and Tory parties will get confirmation that no-one likes them any more.

Hardly a huge political event.

Well it will be interesting to see if that is the case. I think there is just Brexit Party, UKIP and some other headbanger that are standing on "No deal crash out" Tickets so they need to get over 50% between them then to show that Peterborough is as mad as a box of frogs still. It was in the referendum as it voted leave at with over 60% so if your theory is correct that people still want to leave and leave with no deal then they should better that result then shouldnt they?

Its one town though that is a heavy leave area so I fail to see why you think its the most important vote since the referendum.

You seem so keen to find out though if its still a very "Leavey" area but not so keen on a national second referendum though huh?

Why?

What will achieve? BP will likely get one MP with no policies who will just bang on about "Brexit means Brexit" or some other such nonsense.

Well youve kind of contradicted what youve preached for months and months then ... Surely if your everyones changed their minds theory is correct then Peterborough will be the kind of place that proves that theory correct and will be a positive result for remain parties

It all depends on the result doesnt it? Like the EU elections its going to be hard to decipher what the opinion on Brexit is from one heavily pro leave town. People will vote not just on Brexit of course and like the EU elections the remain vote will be split. Those concentrating on a hard Brexit will likely be the same minority that voted for BP in the Euro elections.

Will have to wait and see. I think BP will win but unless they win by a massive majority it proves nothing and even then only for Peterborough.

To avoid all this confusion why not back a proper referendum and find out?

I do accept the result. Always have. It was a result, It happened, how can you not accept it? What I do not accept is crashing out of the EU with no deal as that was never on the cards. I also wanted a confirmatory referendum on whatever deal was on the cards as we also never knew what that would be in 2016. Cant get much more democratic than that. If we have a deal then put it up against remaining or if we dont and crashing out is the only option then put that up against remaining.

Oh Dear. Oh deary deary me. (lol)

Beaten by according to the Brexit Party and Farage in the EU elections "A remain party". I knew that would come back and bite them on the arse.

A 61% Leave area and BP have failed.

This is the second most important political event since the referendum!!! (lol)

A clear message has been sent. No majority, not even in Brexit heartlands like Peterborough for a crash out Brexit or probably any kind of Brexit.

The icing on the cake is Trump probably swung it with his NHS clanger.

Oh what a Gay Day!!! :D

Leave parties easily smashed the vote ... Peterborough has an MP that likes anti-Semite filth on the web ... It begs the question whats wrong with our world when so many vote for a party riddled with anti-Semites ... Labour vote down nearly 18% and an 8 week old party came within 700 votes from having an MP ... Its still a bright sunny morning people

Peterborough by Election round up...

Great Labour victory in a campaign where -

- 61% voted Leave in the referendum

- Last Labour MP was jailed

- Massive anti-Semite slur campaign

- Labour MEP lost to Brexit Party in EU elections

Momentum is important in politics and, at the moment, the Brexit Party has it. Yet they couldn’t get across the line here. Commentators are saying Farage made a big mistake by not standing here but the snake is terrified of failing to get elected to Parliament yet again and this constituency was just too marginal for him. He may not get a better chance.

Peterborough used to be a safe Tory seat yet this was their worst result here for 139 years.

The LibDems did comparatively well and finished fourth, once again showing a General Election vote for them is a wasted vote.

And in a premonition of what yet may befall the Brexit Party, UKIP got only 400 votes.

Winning by default is hardly a endorsement of Commie Corbyn is it? *-) ........

Although it is a salutary lesson on the consequences of a split vote :-| ........

Perhaps the Tory party needs to decide what they fear the most.......a No Deal Brexit........Or a Corbyn government :D ........
