Jamie Olivers empire collapses

Jamie Olivers restaurant empire has collapsed with the closure of all but three of his 25 restaurants and loss of 1000 employees after going into receivership.

On more pleasant news, top Manchester chef Gary Usher gave a homeless man a job after he asked for a job.

In a Twitter thread that's gone viral, Gary explains: "As I walked off, he shouted: mate, got any jobs!?"

Gary revealed that the man, whose name has been revealed as Derek, showed up the next day at his restaurant Kala to ask about a kitchen porter position.

According to Gary, he has been making such job offers for 10 years to people living on the streets, but this man was the first to take him up on his offer.

As far as Jamie goes ... We eat in Leeds fairly regular ... One side of the road is Jamies restaurant , over priced reasonable food where two can eat for £100 with drinks and feel OK'ish with what youve had ... Across the road is Gino d'acampos where two can eat very nicely for £75.00 with drinks and come out feeling pretty chuffed ... Its not rocket science

On the BBC evening news yesterday, Jamies woes came before the woes of thousands of Steelworkers and the jobs dependant in the supply chain.

It's time the BBC gave up on news programmes, they are just no good at it. *-)

They aren't "Jamies woes" but the woes of over 1000 employees which is more important than sniping about what position it was reported at in the news. *-)

Ah, I see.

Steelworkers are lesser people than dishwashers. 8-)

Perhaps that's why his business failed ... all the Eastern European dishwashers and pot cleaners went home because of Brexit.

Bullet, you really are a tit. *-)

Taking my post totally out of context and twisting it into something it never was or even stated, doesn't make you clever as you appear to think it does…..it just makes you a pompous pillock.

Even thick enough to believe restaurants are only manned by dishwashers and pot cleaners. Idiot. *-)

If you had taken time to read the link you'd know that apart from three UK restaurants, 61 others in his chain outside of UK remain unaffected so your "global downturn" excuse is as as silly as your "Brexit bounce" nonsense.

There were a number of contributing factors such as soaring high street rates but to deny Brexit hasn't played a part in this is typical Brexiteer ostrich mentality. His business hasn't been alone in being affected by the huge catastrophic damage Brexit has brought and it's about time you folk began accepting responsibility for your lunacy instead of constantly making excuses.

It failed because it was overpriced and crap

I've never been to any so couldn't comment on quality though looking at the menu prices, they don't seem excessive.

A 3 course a' la carte meal at one of Gordon Ramseys restaurants will set you back between £110 - £175.

No we don't agree as i've already said denying Brexit has not played some part in it is typical Brexiter ostrich mentality. Businesses going to the wall or, if they managed it in time, relocating out of UK, is all a direct consequence of the devastation Brexit has wreaked on the nation and it's about time you people began taking responsibilities for your actions as there will be more to come.
