antony1969
The day the world changed ... ... Still as shocking now even all these years after ... Islamic terrorists have carried out nearly 34.000 separate attacks since the Twin Towers came down ... Let that sink in
Tracker
I wonder how many attacks against Islamist targets the 'West' has made in the same period? Maybe it is time for everyone to stop the senseless killing, maiming and destruction - but I don't see any signs of reason prevailing from either side - do you? I'd imagine most Islamist targets hit by the West would be military targets not as with Islamic terror attacks mainly on civilians ... Your right though be nice for the senseless killing to stop but unfortunately it grows year on year from one side and will continue to do so because of a certain book they read

Difference is that most of those crusades and religious fallouts were from way back in yesteryear and long since done with and no chance of happening again as most religions are dying ... Islam grows rapidly and with it those views straight from the Islamic holy book ... We live in the modern world but much of the Islamic holy book and its teachings drag it and many of its believers back to year dot and in a 'mullticooltooral' country like ours and many others that don't paint a very picture for the future ... Maybe we can ask Barry to rub his ball and tell us the future ... Again

No Dave I have not read it, and neither have I read the bible, and neither do I intend to start now! I have no time for any religion for they are all corrupt and obsessed with power over people. I am no great liker of Karl Marx, but - "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. Barryd999
Yes it certainly was a terrible day that changed the world. However I am not so sure the knee jerk reaction from Bush has delivered us anything other than more terrorism and a lot of dead civilians and soldiers. Being dragged into an illegal war in Iraq for one thing and whether you supported us going into Afghanistan or not what has it all achieved apart from more death and hatred? A hell of a lot of civilians were killed in Iraq by the way by western coalition air strikes. an Investigation by the New York Times found that, contrary to the claims of the Pentagon, as many as one-in-five coalition air strikes on Isis targets in Iraq in 2014, resulted in civilians deaths. That figure was 31 times higher than what the US has acknowledged. Nobody really knows how many people died from the knock on effect and wars as a result of 9/11. Half a million to over a million is the estimated death toll for Iraq alone. For what exactly? ISIS are all but done in now really but pockets of terrorism against the west will continue. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle.
