What was it the Haters said would happen to the car industry if we voted for Brexit? :-S ........

"Nissan's chief executive Makoto Uchida said the production in Europe will be centered at the British plant"

Nope I don't think it was that? ;-) .........

No doubt Bullet will be along to remind us all soon (lol) (lol) (lol) ..........

You can be happy about it.

Vauxhall = French

Rolls Royce = German

Bentley = German

Jaguar = Indian

Aston Martin = Canada (almost)

McLaren = Bahrain + Canada + Saudi Arabia

Range and Land Rover = India

Lotus = China

Rover = gone

Leyland = gone

Maybe you have Caterham and Morgan left

It's not really rocket science.

Cars imported from EU will have a 10% tariff - so you make 'em in the U.K.

( Which means that they will be cheaper for British buyers Dave ).

;-)

An undeniable advantage for you.

But do you really think that on this part of the Channel we are so dumb to pay 10% more for a car just because it has the refueling intake on the left side?

I do not think so.

You ?

Max

p.s. These are the rules of export and an internal market is ridiculous when we talk about globalization.

Just an example. Lancia left the British market many years ago because it made no sense to produce right-side-drive cars for such a small volume of business. Maybe others will.

You can obviously continue to drive Nissan.

You are right.

They were made to counterbalance the poor reliability of British cars and revenge us.

Think that when we complained about the constant breakdowns of English cars, the dealer replied that we had been unlucky:

your car had been finished late in the afternoon, at tea time.

Got it. All unfortunate ...

... that's why we see few of them.

Max

P.S. This is however motorhomes and caravans forum.

Of course, Burstner, Hymer, Rapido, CI, N + B, etc. will also cost 10% more. Just 10K£ gift for a 100K£ motorhome.

Thank you sir.

No doubt Johnson has bunged them a sh1t load more money (again) or promised them something. They needed a good news story right now, lets face it. Unless Nissan can sell millions of their Sunderland produced cars to Brits only though it makes no sense as the way Cummings is steering Brexit they will become at least 10% more expensive to the European mainland marketplace.

It is good news of course for Sunderland but for how long? If the Japanese have trusted Johnson with whatever deal he has bribed them with then they are fools. Of course nobody yet knows how Europe and the UK will come out the other side of this so I guess we will have to wait and see.

That depends. I dunno about motorhomes but nearly half the components that are used to make British cars are imported. Maybe motorhomes are the same.

Well for starters, Autotrail are owned by Trigano, so they are now French..

(I thought Autosleepers went through a spell when they were own by a foreign "Group"? but I think they are now back as a stand alone company?)

The likes of Wildax and Romahome are only low volume producers anyway.

But whoever "owns" them, they are still mounted on "foreign" base vehicles, and assembled using predominately "foreign" owned/made/sourced materials and components

..and anyone who thinks that it's credible to stand the likes of "Swift" up against the list of car, base vehicle and component manufactures that "mtravel" posted, needs to steer clear of the cheap plonk and *sit in the shade more? (lol)

*Maybe under a British made patio "umbrella"?. and one that's delivered by a British owned courier?

(and hopefully not some some Chinese-made job?, delivered by foreign owned couriers like DHL(German), Hermes(German), DPD (French)... etc ? :D )

Pelmet doesn't quite 'get' that though pepe.....despite buying parts for his 30 year old tin tub from Germany, a country he hates but hypocritically buys from. He's also forgot about "taking back control" when almost half of Nissan is owned by France! (lol)

Surprised he had the audacity to post a DM link since branding it a "remoaner rag". (lol)

So a win win for vans built in the UK B-) .......
