Bulletguy
Here we go.....as if our mortality figures aren't bad enough already, they're about to get a lot worse. :-( NHS in crisis mode as hospitals told to discharge patients where possible The NHS was put on a crisis footing tonight as hospitals in England were told to discharge as many patients as possible while estimated daily Omicron cases hit 200,000 and the variant claimed its first life in the UK. Amid a scramble for tests and booster jabs, the country’s doctors called for further restrictions to be imposed to stem the rise in cases and Downing Street did not rule out fresh measures. https://tinyurl.com/7p3s3h6s NHS leaders warn of intensifying 'health emergency' as coronavirus hospital admissions rise Health Secretary Sajid Javid said any further Covid restrictions must be a last resort but NHS leaders say pressures from increasing patient numbers are further straining a health service already operating "beyond full stretch". https://tinyurl.com/2s4as4a5 And....... :-( NHS frontline staff in mental health crisis as 700 medics a month now seeking professional help The NHS is dealing with a mental health crisis among frontline staff with up to 700 doctors and other health professionals now seeking professional help from colleagues a month, i can reveal. Professor Dame Clare Gerada, the president of the Royal College of GPs, said the specialist clinic she established over a decade ago has treated the same number of NHS staff over the last 18 months than it did in the first 10 years of its existence until the pandemic struck. https://tinyurl.com/5me9uy3k

Direct information given to me yesterday by a Staff Nurse. I'm guessing you mean the RVI? And if so I'm guessing that you are suggesting that it's all a myth then? And presumably the 32 patients listed as being there on the 28th December all recovered, including the seven in ITU. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/easy_read?postcode=NE54BT And for those that don't know Newcastle has two hospitals, have you got the figures for the Freeman? And you do realise that those in hospital on the 28th December probably aren't Omicron? It hadn't hit the northeast east, or rather it had but hospitalizations happen later. A number of Trusts have already suspended visiting and people with heart attacks are being told to make their own way to hospital.
John52
CurtainRaiser - 2022-01-04 10:12 PM Captain Airhead Good name for him :-D A few weeks ago I posted a link to a guy with a broken hip who lay in his own filth for 14 hours waithing for an ambulance. Then ambulances queing for hours outside hospitals. Similar waits at A and E. People pulling their own teeth. And yet I keep hearing adverts on the radio saying the NHS is open for business and non covid work . I can only asssume the adverts are a PR stunt from a Government whose main concern is the political damage to themselves from people not getting NHS treatment when they need it. So they are trying to pretend people can still get the treatment they need.
747
Strange? I was an outpatient at the RVI yesterday in the eye department, everything normal. No cancelled non-emergency work in any department according to the Nurse and the eye specialist is booking me in for a procedure shortly. From my experience of the department, everything looked to be running as normal. There are 3 major Hospitals in Newcastle. The Freeman, General and RVI. As I said earlier, the RVI has 5 Covid patients, none on ventilators. I'm sorry if it does not fit your diatribes against the Tory Government and ultra Left Wing bias comrades. *-)

A couple of months ago cancer treatments around here where going smoothly, also I went to see orthopaedic surgeon and things there look OK, it's not like that now. This afternoon I shall be on 'driver duty' taking someone into hospital 6 weeks after they should have been seen. I notice the Lincolnshire health trusts declared a major incidence t'other week. Barryd999
I find it incredibly odd that Captain Airhead (lol) and Pelmethead think that by citing local experiences (and in the case of Pelmethead one that was before the recent wave of Omicron *-) ) means there isnt a problem and the entire NHS is lying about the issue. Its a bit like saying I drove into (insert your town name here) and there was virtually no traffic so all those traffic jams Sally traffic is blathering on about on the M25, M6 and the M62 must be made up.
