Derek Uzzell Posted December 28, 2021 Share Posted December 28, 2021 Forum Moderators can freeze and/or ’sticky’ a thread, move a thread between O&AL forums or delete it in its entirety. They can also delete postings within a thread and edit their content. (Although Moderators can delete or edit individual postings, that’s essentially all they can do at the postings level.) Moderators are not ‘time limited’, so can edit a posting at any time however recent or old it is and (unlike for non-Moderator forum participants) Moderator editing leaves no ‘fingerprints’. This means that - if Moderators so chose - they could rewrite posts so that they meant something completely different from what the original posters intended. 'Banning' a forum-member prevents that individual from posting to all of the O&AL forums, and a Moderator's powers apply to all the forums . So limiting banning to (say) the Chatterbox forum is not practicable, nor is having a Chatterbox-only Moderator. (At present Moderators have no 'banning' powers.) I have no wish to be a moderator, but if I was, I would ban the following people : Anyone who keeps calling people names. Anyone who thinks the EU is a country. Anyone who keeps repeating the same messages day after day. Anyone who never answers questions. Anyone who includes me on a " nomination " list with Antony. And now you have explained what a moderators role is we can all see through Pelmetheads desire to take on the role. Like his bibles the Daily Wail and Brexpress he is planning to delete all his previous posts where he told everyone what he was going to get as his Brexit deal. I suspect he is getting a little tired of being reminded how project fear has become project reality. I have however mistakenly resubmitted your nomination so you are now in the election twice but Im still sure you will walk it based on the above.
