GarySueLola
Oh dear, another Brexit promise gone; we were told the world would beat a path to our door once we were out of the second largest trade group but here we are, 5 years down the line and no deal with our most favoured partner, the US and the chances looking slim. We may even have to join another trade pact to get in... On a rare occaision he appeared in public, invisible Johnson looked a bit shaken - he doesn't like Laura Kunesberg though as she can make mental mincemeat of him (not that it is that difficult - shame Starmer can't manage it though). John52
But Johnson's got what he wanted out of it - the PMs job. Its not about us or our country - its all about him. And he will obviously promise anything to get what he wants. even if that promise will be broken an hour later What I find so baffling is that people still believe him. .. and still read and quote the Daily Mail and Express after all their lies :-S

Oh look a company that has been selling British goods into the USA for years. You know like when we were in the EU. So have we got, or are we likely to get in the near future, a comprehensive trade deal with the USA? You know like the one described by Brexiteers as a key reason for leaving the EU. So we will chalk that one down as another lie / broken promise. And note US trade is as follows: 30% with Canada & Mexico 13% with China 2.5% each with UK, Taiwan, Vietnam and India This is why US-UK trade deal is not a priority US is trading more with its neighbours UK has left the EU and wants to trade with countries further away instead. All the cards....

We may even have to join another trade pact to get in. We're where Obama warned us we would be if UK left the EU....."at the back of the queue". Then came Goves grovelling visit to Johnsons God, Trump, where he knelt before him licking his boots hoping to hear Trump say we'd be at the front of the queue. Instead it was groveller Gove who said that and Trump said, "I think you're doing great"......about as meaningful as Brexit means Brexit and all the other silly slogans. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2017/jan/16/uk-leave-eu-brexit-donald-trump-michael-gove-times-video This latest farce hasn't been helped by useless Eustace who suggested that Mr Biden does not “fully appreciate” the details of the Northern Ireland Protocol which is a “very complicated piece of agreement” and that he had probably “just read headlines” pumped out from Brussels and Dublin. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/boris-johnson-joe-biden-white-house-northern-ireland-oval-office-b956592.html
John52
Apparently Bidens lifting of the travel ban to the EU and the UK took Johnson by surprise, but that hasn't stopped him spinning it as a present for the UK :-| Macron has achieved more in one phone call to Biden than Johnson has in 5 days of partying. My understanding is a precondition of a trade deal is that we lower our food standards to accept American food, and sell the NHS to American cartels. Looks like even Johnson can't convince people to accept that. Although he did seem to convince the Brexiteers that we could have a trade deal wit the US, accepting their chornated chicken and other crap, and still have free trade with the EU *-)
