So Johnson & Patel want to send in the Navy to solve their rapidly growing migrant crisis for them, and cause a distraction from Partygate.

But we can't send illegral migrants back to France because we are no longer in the EU.

So what exactly are the Navy supposed to do?

I raised this the other day. Its bound to backfire. The Gammons and hard line Tory Kippers will be all revved up about this, imagining battleships steaming to the rescue to bloody well sort out these "chancers" but what will actually happen if they do send them in (which they probably wont as someone will figure this out) is they will just end up having to do what Border force and the RNLI do which is to rescue them. They wont want a photo in the news of a load of bedraggled refugees stood on the deck of HMS Embarrassment will they?

Then of course the irony as you say is once rescued they will have to be brought to the UK as we can no longer send them back to France.

Ive been watching the Warship documentary series on Channel 5 recently (which is pretty poor really as most of it is nonsense) but if thats anything to go by they will probably need rescuing themselves as the bloody ship is always breaking down or falling apart. The sailors all come across as a bit of a bunch of fluffy liberals as well to be honest. (lol)

Good question - I do not expect that the Navy wants or appreciates being given such a task - whatever that task involves.

But the big problem is why these people want to come to the U.K.? What makes the U.K. so attractive as a place to be when Europe is supposed to be so much better?

The EU rules state that the first country of entry should deal with the individual. However, we all know that the EU countries at that first crossing are overwhelmed and simply turn a blind eye and allow transit through to the next country and so on.

So these poor people end up living in camps, under canvas, in all weathers trying to get to the U.K..

A country that according to some - is less attractive now outside of the EU and made a huge mistake by leaving.

How strange

A French Police Officer at the sharp end in Calais summed it up tears ago

'You British need to sort out your Black Economy - thats what they are going for.'

They can get a job (or turn to crime) and rent a flat in England with no papers.

Can't do that in France.

And now they can't be sent back due to Brexit, the number making the crossing has multiplied several times over.

If the migrants see a Navy Ship they are supposed to turn round and go back *-)

But in reality they will just sail straight towards it like they did with the lifeboats :-S

I suppose the difference is there will be no press cameras on the Warship to film them landing in Britain like there was with the lifeboats.

So if it takes attention away from Partygate it will have served its purpose.

I can remember when they used to make TV dramas about the Police, the Navy etc.

Hugely expensive for the TV company.

Then someone realised how much cheaper and more profitable it would be to go out in a real police car with a camera - Alisdair Stewart made his fortune out of his 'Police Camera Action'

Of course not everyone is allowed to take their camera out with the police - they have to show them in a good light.

The format has become so profitable its ecxtended to the Navy, Scrap Merchants, Classis Car Auctions, Vets etc etc. My understanding is these businesses don't get paid by the TV company, but they get free advertising by being shown in a good light - having the power of veto over broadcasting anything they don't approve of. Just enough mishaps shown to make it believable.

So I wouldn't take too seriously a TV programme filmed from inside the Armed Forces.

They are trained to kill and effectively taught that whatever the problem, violence is the solution.

Hence ex servicemen so often tend to be violent - topping the list for wife beating for example.

So they might want some TV coverage that tones that impression down?

You tell us

However many it was doesn't alter the fact that we could send them back before Brexit, so it was a deterrent from attempting the crossing.

No we can't send them back.

So there is no longer that deterrent.

We did indeed send a fair few back to France before we left the EU, we have been here before but this was before Brexit and before the massive influx we have seen since we left and the French have been controlling our borders for us. So we dont know how many we could have sent back post Brexit. Thousands probably. One things for sure its zero now. Another Brexit benefit eh?

Let's be clear what has just happened:

Boris Johnson, purely as a political expedient, to appease the hard right of his own party and save his job, has decided that Covid19 will no longer be a notifiable disease.

Effectively unilaterally declaring the pandemic at an end.

438 deaths yesterday.

Yes so not only has he lied once again to the nation about these scandalous law breaking parties, now as part of his operation save Big Dog and operation Red Meat he is putting us all at risk by pandering to the Swivel eyed right wing populist loops to save his own skin. He is disgusting beyond belief and so is anyone who still supports him.

I don't know what all the silly fuss is about but I suppose it gives the sisters something to jump up and down about with Antony manning migration HQ directing Pelmetman on beach patrol. *-)

Meanwhile up to five million Hong Kong citizens are on the way.......and they've been arriving in the UK or applying to come here on average at a rate of 2,500 a week since January 2021 but the right wing racist media and xenophobes are more obsessed with a few folk in rubber dinghies.

Well that will be because their right wing Beano comics have not ordered them to froth at the mouth about it yet. They are still busy fighting the Brexit wars and Saving Big Dog Turd.

1 So these poor people end up living in camps, under canvas, in all weathers trying to get to the U.K..

2 A country that according to some - is less attractive now outside of the EU and made a huge mistake by leaving.

3 How strange

1 True, because from a distance they see the UK, and are encouraged by those who hope to make money from them to do so, as Eldorado. In addition, most have a smattering of English, while few speak any of the other European languages. The bit that no-one explains to them is that although the UK is indeed rich on paper, its individual inhabitants are not as rich as our comparative GDP makes us look. No-one tells them how expensive a country this is to live in, how low their pay is likely to be if they gain employment, and how expensive and scarce decent (or even poor) housing is. So, they are duped by the hype, and the willingness of the smugglers to exploit their innocence. That is easy to understand.

2 Those who say the UK is a less attractive destination now it is outside the EU are not speaking of its attraction for those whose own countries are gripped by famine, corruption, endemic poverty, and widespread civil unrest. Whatever their motivation, they still come in the hope they will find security, employment, peace, and relative prosperity. Many, IMO, are destined to disappointment, leading them to wonder why they incurred such huge risk and debt to get here. Our government, for obvious reasons, is loth to launch a major campaign to disabuse them.

3 So you are right, if you look no deeper it will appear strange, but that strangeness has nothing to do with Brexit - which is why they came before Brexit, and continue to arrive. Reputations, reputations, eh?

I say again - what difference does it make?

The fact is that before Brexit we could send them back, now we can't.

Its like saying we can no longer do anything about shoplifters

Makes no difference how many shoplifters we caught and punished before.

Once they knew there was nothing we could do about them shoplifting there would be an explosion in shoplifting.

Just like there is an explosion in migrants.

Only thing they can do is send in the Navy to appease the Gammons like you.

And when the migrants are picked up and landed in Blighty by Navy ships instead of Civilian Vessels there will be no reporters there to take photos.

So they can pretend that sending in the Navy has stopped migration - because we will no longer be allowed to see them coming in. Official Secrets Act etc.

Very good points.

Standard of living for most people in England bears no relation to the Government's claimed GDP figure.

Poles have said to me how you have to pay for everything in England (like car parking) where its much cheaper or free in Poland.

I find it a huge frustration that certain political parties have been so adamant that things like identity cards and laws to control who can work in the U.K. are a bad idea.

The problem with ID cards is you need to be able to trust the Government not to abuse them.

But at the head of the government we have Johnson - a compulsive liar, who goes back on agreements as soon as he has signed them, and with friends who contact him for the address of a respectable investigative journalist so they can have him beaten up.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/video/2013/mar/24/boris-johnson-accused-nasty-video?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

So do you really want the likes of Johnson to know where you are >:-(
