At Last 'Raab confirmed on Sunday that people arriving at ports and airports could be quarantined for 14 days.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/26/the-key-areas-to-look-at-in-easing-the-uk-coronavirus-lockdown.

But why have they waited till the virus is already established here >:-)

About time too. An admittance of yet another missed opportunity.

Hope the quarantine includes those young males escaping war in Europe by boat across the Channel

Last I heard was they were getting out of Britain so that would be a matter for the French.

But if they were coming here with Covid19 you could deal with the odd pocket of virus by isolating it,

Problem is BoJo waited till the virus was established throughout the country before doing anything.

Having the advantage of being surrounded by water, we could have stopped it by testing and quarantine at the borders he was so keen to 'take back control' of.

That is not hindsight - we had plenty of notice before the virus got here.

But he remained as 'idle and complacent' as his tutors said he was at Eton.

Not even bothering to attend 5 Cobra meetings, but retaining all the power so the Government was paralysed without him

Instead of blaming him, his spin doctors have got the innocent public blaming each other for sitting on park benches, driving 4 miles to take exercise, or going out more than once in a day.

Same Old Tory Divide & Rule - they fall for it every time.

BoJo's propoganda machine is about the only thing that works.

Its the worst crisis I have seen in my life

I'm worried because I can't see a way out

And I'm angry because it could have been avoided -

and to cap it all those 'responsible' are shifting the blame to innocent people. >:-)

From what I heard of the proposals, when it was being reported on later last night, this "quarantine" appears to be little more than arrivals needing to let the authorises know the address at which they'll be staying at, and for them to promise just to stay there for 14 days..?! ..on the off chance that someone may check up on them...?

Unless it's changed this morning,it certainly didn't sound like they were going to to marched off to some holding facility.

So, if that's the case, not really "quarantine" as such..

Not much point now the virus is here.

But at least the Government has realised that quarantine at the borders is a good idea

Just 3 months too late :-S

Unlike them, We have the advantage of being surrounded by water.

So we could have stopped Covid19 at the borders BoJo has 'taken back control' of

If he wasn't still as 'Lazy and Complacent' as he was at Eton

We had the virus here at least at the the end of February, some of my ski club friends came back from Austria early with it. They went into isolation straight away.Fortunately they all survived it.

Brian B.

Good to hear that your friends got through it okay...:-D

Can I ask, at that stage, were suspected cases being tested and mapped etc or were they just being told to stay home and "isolate"?

(and it does seem ridiculous that at a time when some countries were looking to impose/had imposed restrictions, we were still having the likes of the 4 day Cheltenham festival!)

The OH has at least one case of it in her family. At the moment, it's "just" her step-sister's father-in-law that's been diagnosed. But he's 93 and he lives alone...and that is where he is being left apparently?

and because he has the OH's step-sister (or one of her grown up kids) call in on him everyday, that's put all of them into "self isolation" !

The OH is now really worried that her step-sister(and/or her family) have passed it to her 75 year old mum.... :-S

They don't have the advantage of being surrounded by water like we are, so they couldn't seal their borders from the virus like BoJo could have sealed ours.
