The Old Bexley constituency has been described as a 60 % Brexit voting community - so why anyone would waste their time standing as a " Rejoin EU " candidate is beyond understanding. Looks like he didn't do his homework.

A bit like standing as an anti gun candidate in Americas deep south.

Exactly why now is not the time to start banging on about rejoining the EU. Slowly slowly catch the monkey. Get shot of Johnson and the Tories first and I notice from that election there was a big swing to Labour in a Tory safe seat. I also notice the far right nut job Reform party did quite well also and Tim whatshisface reckons they are on the up so maybe they will split the Tory vote.

What is going to be interesting is as to how the Tories respond to the Reform party. Is there any space for them to move further to the right? Or is the only space left on that spectrum that where they sew a couple of SS letters on their suits?

Typically Pinocchio spots a screechy header from his Beano and wet his nappy without bothering to read further. *-)

"A recent opinion poll found a majority of Brits now favoured rejoining the European Union, despite voting to sever ties with the bloc in 2016 and electing a Government to 'Get Brexit Done' three years later."

And there's plenty of evidence of that......even in his Brexpress! (lol)(lol)

So here is the article Pinocchio didn't want you to see! (lol)(lol)

Brexit poll: Boris dealt huge blow as more than HALF of UK adults want to REJOIN EU

BREXIT BRITAIN and Boris Johnson have been dealt a crushing blow after a bombshell poll revealed more than half of UK adults would vote to rejoin the European Union if another referendum was to take place.

The UK voted by a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent to split from the bloc during the historic referendum in June 2016. Both sides signed an 11th hour post-Brexit trade deal at the end of last year that put an end to the UK's 47-year membership of the European Union - with the Prime Minister insisting Brexit Britain will flourish as a sovereign nation. But a significant poll from Savanta ComRes suggests the tide is quickly changing, with huge doubts now creeping into the minds of those that voted to leave the continental bloc.

The survey of 2,231 UK adults from November 5-7 shows if another referendum was to take place, 53 percent of UK adults would vote to rejoin the EU.

This is up four points from when the polling firm asked the same question in June, when just under half (49 percent) said they would vote for the UK to once again become an EU member.

Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta ComRes, said the sharp rise in UK adults now wanting to join the EU shows a number of issues linked to Brexit over recent months are now starting to take their toll.

He warned the high level of support among younger voters to rejoin the EU, as well as the high percentage who would now back a referendum, "indicates that the Brexit story isn't going away any time soon".

Mr Hopkins said: “Five years on from the Brexit referendum, this polling suggests a country that is equally divided, but with the momentum shifting towards a majority who would now vote to re-join the EU."

Its not enough though. I think there were many polls done in the past few years that showed similar. Johnson got away with hiding a lot of the damage of Brexit with a cobbled together deal at the last minute which is far from complete but it limited a lot of the damage a no deal crash out that many of the Brextremists wanted and then Covid came along which I am sure Johnson thanks the Lord for every day. Now the treasuries own forecasts however show that the long term damage from Brexit will be twice as bad as covid but the electorate sadly need to see that for themselves. The government and their supporting media can only disguise that long term so much.

To campaign now on a rejoin ticket would be political suicide until people "see the light" so to speak. I suspect the next step if a new government was formed would be closer union. Maybe single Market and / or Customs Union and once that is seen as successful in fixing many of the problems then people may accept that we may as well be full members with a seat at the table.

Of course there is always the possibility that the UK will go so rogue that the Eu wont want us back. If we get to that state of course whether or not we rejoin will be the least of our problems.

I'm just wondering, who but a TINO would be drawing attention to the worse Conservative result in Bexley since the scum bag Derek Conway gave his son £40,000 of tax payers money for doing SFA. A drop of 15% of the vote share and a 10% swing to Labour.

... that the Eu wont want us back...

.

The whole of Europe is so annoyed by your attitude that you can take it for sure.

Correction : It's not " our " attitude, it's Boris Johnsons attitude - and at the last election he got the support of less than half of the electorate.

We got him as Prime Minister because no credible opposition was put up by the Labour party at the time of the election.

Unfortunately Malc we get stereo typed in Europe. From pot bellied drunks swaggering around Spain thinking they've just colonised it, to louts scrapping at football matches.

EU ministers know what Johnson is.

Not my attitude Max. Johnsons days are numbered and the UK is not producing new Brexiteers anymore. Most of them will be dead in ten years time and the young are very pro Europe. Millions of them never got to vote in the 2016 referendum. Dont give up on us just yet.

They are not going to negotiate with Johnson because they can't believe a word he says or trust him to keep his word. Especially after he negotiated and signed the Northern Ireland protocol, hailed it as a fanrastic deal, and now wants to renege on it.

But even when Johnson has gone

Why would the EU take us back?

Our economy is smaller, our debts are higher, and we couldn't offer them a better deal than they have already with our firms moving over there to be on the right side of trade barriers.

Urgent message from officials in Cumbria to U.K. Prime Minister :

"Terrible storms up here, lots of damage, blocked roads, and power cuts. Please send supplies of hot food, hot drinks, and also some generators."

( p.s. If you can't think of a way to bypass the blocked roads can we suggest you send helicopters )

Reply from U.K. Prime Minister :

" Sorry, unable to help as I am not an electrician "

That's Daves' excuse for the slow reaction.

- but I think it's more likely that when Johnson heard about storms in Cumbria, he thought Cumbria was in Italy.
