BGD
Sorry, I'm probably being thick here, but in what way is this a "retrospective tax"? I thought it was actually an announcement by Mr. Bean's Government about taxation classes on vehicles to apply in the future......I've seen nothing to suggest that any owners will have to pay any back-tax on their vehicles. parkmoy
Sorry, I'm probably being thick here, but in what way is this a "retrospective tax"? I think it's fairly clear what I meant, however, if you want to be picky....... In so much as it is to be applied using newly decided criteria to vehicles previously purchased. CliveH
The point was made very clearly in last nights news broadcasts that your average "Mondeo Man" - the voter that makes or breaks a government - is the person who will be hit hardest by the new VED that applies to older "family" cars like the Mondeo and the Passat (as well as many others). Hence the concern of Labour backbenchers that come the election this policy is just yet another vote loser for them. If we were not heading for an election do you really think these same backbenchers would give a toss?
