It was about the Russians trying to get their hands on Western technology using spies and by hacking computer systems. The French tipped off the Americans and to cut a long (and interesting) story short, the Yanks taught the Russkis a hard lesson. The Russians were trying to get hold of new pipeline technology for their massive gas distribution network. The company they were trying to steal from were tipped off by the CIA and they added a few extra lines in the program. The Russian pipeline was completed and operating well thanks to stolen technology.
