Have you noticed that what we call Import 'Taxes', Trump calls Import 'Tariffs'

Is this the stealthiest stealth tax of all?

So stealthy they don't even call it a Tax. :D

Even more stealthy than VAT because its never shown separately on the price of goods.

Trump even claims China is paying it :D

Since BoJo is Trump's biggest Sycophant, How long will it be before our Taxes become invisible 'Tariffs' too (lol)

Yet the Tory press is still letting BoJo get away with saying we can fall back on WTO rules. *-)

Which the Mad Hatter soaks up and repeats here :D

And calling Taxes 'Tariffs'

They have let politicians get awy with calling Import Tax import Duty

But then what do todays politicians know about Duty *-)

So they have had to think of another word for Taxes instead :-S

Oh dear, I see that you have a new obsession. They're called tariffs because that shows the kind of tax it is. A tariff is a charge applied on trade between nations. Everyone, except you it would appear, isn't really bothered about the name as we understand that it is a tax, and who has ever suggested that it isn't? Did you know that National Insurance Contributions are also a tax? We also have excise duties on products. Again this tells us that it's a tax applied by Customs and Excise.

 

Some of these names go back centuries. Perhaps the government should spend millions changing all the descriptions? If they did I suspect I know who'd be the first whinging about wasting money.
